VSN Saturday's Challenges

If you saw the card on this post for the VSN Friday's challenges, then these are the cards for Saturday's challenges. I haven't managed to do all of these ones yet, but will upload the rest tomorrow.

Challenge F was my card and a nice simple one to start the day - use flowers of any kind and description on a card. I used this card that I made for the Passion for Papertrey challenge last weekend.

Challenge G is to make 3D paper roses. I used Marlene's tutorial here on 3rd May on how to use the large flower from the Vintage Vogue set to make them. I also used the Stamp With Us sketch and Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #21 to use Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.

Challenge H is to make a bookmark or a card with a detachable bookmark. I have never made one of those cards so now seemed like a good time to do one! I also used CC93 to use Sage Shadow, Blush Blossom and Rose red for my colour combo and old Mojo sketch #95 for the layout of the front of the card.

Challenge I is a bit more complicated than the others. You had to must have one (or more) of the following:

**change in colors from left to right**
**change in images from left to right**
**change in texture from left to right**

AND one of the following:

**an embellishment (eyelet, button, ribbon, flower, etc.)**
**a sentiment**
**patterned paper**

I used my new Text Boxed set from PTI and thought I'd add an extra twist to this challenge by making the number of flowers on each panel increase from left to right as well :P I also used CC44 to use Taken With Teal, Yoyo Yellow and Rose Red.

Challenge J is to make a card with a shower curtain on it, which is why I haven't done that one yet. Not quite sure what to use to make my shower curtain. It might just have to be a thin piece of acetate. I'll have to see what I can find tomorrow.

Challenge K is to use watercolors and lots of brown colour. I used Papertake Weekly's Sketch #41 and CC55 to use Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Close To Cocoa and Chocolate Chip.

Challenge L is to be inspired by the song or film of Singing In The Rain. I love the song and used my April Showers stamp as I think she looks like she's about to start singing any minute now LOL! I used CC36 to use Perfect Plum, Mellow Moss and Barely Banana and old Mojo #78 for the layout.

Challenge M is to use an element of water, e.g. rain, snowflake, sea, lake etc on your card. I used CC106 to use Really Rust, Brocade Blue and Morning Marigold, which I don't have so I substituted it for So Saffron instead. I got my layout from Mojo #73 as well.

Challenge N is to use the Misting With Markers technique, which I haven't done before so will get round to it tomorrow. I used Just Add Ink's color combo for challenge #19 to use Melon Mambo, Taken With Teal and Elegant Eggplant and a very old Mojo #4 for the layout.

Challenge O is to use the Baby Wipe technique. I used this technique on a thank you card I made for one of my workshop hostesses not so long ago so thought I would use that one again.

Challenge P is to use an old dusty, not been used for ages stamp set! I have a few of those :P so I pulled out my very first Stampin' Up hostess set and matching wheel, Spring Solitude. I also used CC53 to use Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery and Mojo #90 for the layout.

So that's all my VSN challenges for this Virtual Stamp Night. It has been loads of fun hostessing again and there have been some beautiful cards in all the of the challenges' galleries.

All details for my cards can be found in my SCS gallery here.

Thanks for looking and happy stamping!

Inspiring Inkin' Challenge #28

It's a sketch challenge over on the Inpiring Inkin' Challenges blog today with a side twist of using one or more retiring colours. I didn't use a retiring colour on my card, because I just thought that Not Quite Navy was retiring and didn't check before I made my card. Oops! Not to worry.

Anyways this is the sketch...
...and this is my card based on it. You can see I veered off the sketch a bit, but I really do like this card and I will definately be using this sketch again.

Recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Vogue

Papers: Basic Gray, Not Quite Navy, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Bella Bleu DSP

Inks: Basic Gray, Not Quite Navy, Pretty in Pink ink and marker

Accessories: Whisper White and Basic Gray Tafetta ribbons, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Clear Rhinestone Brads

VSN Friday's Challenges

It's VSN this weekend over on SCS again and as you all know I love doing these challenges. I'm a hostess for Saturday's first challenge as well, which means I get to see all the challenges ahead of schedule and there are some fab ones coming up. Go check out the Virtual Stamp Night forum to see them all!

Anyway these are all the challenges for Friday night. Saturday's will be in another post.

Challenge AA is to use blue, grey and white with pink as an optional colour on a project and this is what I did! This one is also for this week's Inpsiring Inkin' Challenge #28 too.

Challenge A is to use the serigraph technique. Now I have never used this technique before so don't be too shocked by it. It uses the brayer which I'm still not very good at but I don't think you need to be for this technique. I used an old Mojo #64 for the layout and Stacey's Curtain Call #32 to use Regal Rose, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Apricot Appeal and Rose Red. What a gorgeous fruit salad combo this was!

Challenge B is to make a flower pot using textured flowers. I used 3 embossing folders on my card but love the look of it. This is the card with the insert in. I also used the colours from CC272, Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Kraft. I'm also entering it in the Just Us Girls Challenge #35 to use dry embossing.

And this is one with the insert out!

Challenge C is to use Kraft, So Saffron and Cameo Coral. I used Our Creative Corner's Sketch #17 for the layout. As you probably know Cameo Coral is a colour that I will definately not miss when the new colour renovation comes in in October. I just cannot work with it at all, but I really like how this card turned out. I think having some nice DSP helped as well though.

Challenge D is to use Versamark and/or the clear embossing technique on a project. I haven't used this technique for ages, yet it's so simple and effective. I also used an old colour combo, CC183 to use Riding Hood Red, Green Galore and Going Gray and an old Mojo Sketch #101 for this card.

Challenge E is to try something new, so I pulled out my new Elzybells stamps that haven't yet been put away! I used Color Throwdown's #94, to use Close To Cocoa, So Saffron, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and Soft Sky and Mercy's Sketch #75 for the layout.

Challenge EE is to use animals and the colour green to make a baby card. I used Mojo #140 for my layout and CC33 to use Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom and Certainly Celery for my colour combo.

The details for all my cards can be seen here in my Splitcoast Stampers gallery. Thought it would be easier than looking at loads of recipes on here.

That's all of Friday's challenges. Be sure to check on my post on Saturday's challenges too.

A Box of Challenges

I was making a desktop card holder using Jo's template for the Just Us Girls Challenge #34 and decided to fill it with some matching cards using other sketch challenges from this weekend. This set is going to be perfect for an end of year gift for some work colleagues. I'm going to make 5 more in different colours and stamps though so everyone has their own set.

This is the whole collection in the box...

And out of the box...

These are the photos of the individual cards. This first card is for Stampin' Royalty's #20.

The next card is for Crazy For Challenges #38.

The next card is for Mercy's Challenge #74.

And the last card is for Just Add Ink's #18.

Recipe for whole collection:

Stamps: Greenhouse Garden, Sincere Salutations

Papers: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White, Cottage Wall DSP

Inks: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence

Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Ribbon, Old Olive satin Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Clear Gem Brad, Butterfly Punch, Silver Cord

And that's all from me this week - hope you enjoyed them all. And I did get my dates mixed up for the Virtual Stamp Night on SCS - it's this weekend! So be sure to come and check out a ton of challenge cards!

A little bit behind...

I'm a bit late uploading my cards this week - no excuse this time. Just being lazy I guess!

My first card is definately late for the challenge but I'm going to upload it anyways. It's for Sketch 'n' Color's #12 and old color combo CC184 from SCS using Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray and Always Artichoke. Not sure if you can see in the photo but I did saturate the scalloped circles with shimmer paint before fixing them all together.

Recipe:

Stamps: Circle Circus, Framed With Love

Papers: Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla

Inks: Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray, Always Artichoke

Accessories: Riding Hood Red Ribbon, Bird Punch (for the leaves), Scalloped Circle Punch, 1 3/4" circle Punch, Brad from stash, Platinum Shimmer Paint

My next one is yet another late one! It's for Farm Fresh Friday's Sketch challenge, Color Throwdown's # 93 to use Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Baja Breeze, Papertake Weekly's Say It With Flowers Challenge and for SCS' Free For All #13 to use buttons and bows.

Recipe:

Stamps: Miss Anya Collection

Papers: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Baja Breeze cs & DSP, Copic White cs, Sweet Always DSP

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Melon Mambo ribbon, Doily Lace MS Border Punch, Buttons from Papermania, Flower punch

Up next is another one that's not late for a change! Woot! It's for Our Creative Corner's Sketch #16 and old color combo CC148 from SCS top use Wild Wasabi, Barely Banana and Blue Bayou. This one was so quick to do.

Recipe:

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly

Papers: Barely Banana, Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou cs & DSP

Inks: Wild Wasabi

Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" punch, Butterfly Punch (that's a lot of punches!), Crop-A-Dile (for the little circles on the flowers), Icicle Stickles

And my last card for this post is a nice bright, funky card for my friend Michelle who's a bit poorly at the minute! It's for Mojo #139 (late for that one!) and A Passion For Papertry's Favourite Colours Challenge. Now anyone that knows me knows my wardrobe consists of black, pink, black and a bit more pink! I do have other colours in there, just choose not to wear them very often! So I had to make a card using my fave PTI colour, Raspberry Fizz!

Recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Picnic (I ummed and ahhed over this set for ages and finally gave in and I LOVE it!)

Papers: Raspberry Fizz cs & DSP (PTI), Basic Black (SU), Copic White cs, Black & white DSP from Kaiser Craft

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Raspberry Fizz Button, Black Embroidery Thread, Ribbon from stash

Come visit my next post for a few more challenges as well.

Inspiring Inkin' Challenge #27

This fortnight's challenge over on my SU team's challenge blog, Inspiring Inkin' Challenges, is a colour challenge with a difference. You need to go to this blog: http://thescrapmaster.blogspot.com/2010/04/color-combo-testing.html to generate a list of colours.

All you need to do is choose either 3, 4 or 5 colours and tick the box, depending on how many you want and then click the submit button. It will then take you to a page of 10 different colour combos - choose one you like and off you go! Simple.

The side twist is to use one of Stampin' Up's satin ribbons. These are absolutely gorgeous and come in Whisper White, Chocoalte Chip, Real Red and Old Olive. Let's hope we get some more colours in the new catalgoue as they are so lush to use!

I got some very strange colour combos in my list but I chose Rich Razzleberry, Rose Red and Yoyo Yellow and this is what I came up with. I don't think I particularly like it though. I did use Mojo #18 for the layout and changed the brads on the ribbon to another piece of ribbon instead.

Can you spot my satin ribbon? I dyed some of the Whisper White ribbon with my Yoyo Yellow ink pad so I have some new satiny yellow ribbon instead! Cool huh?

Recipe:

Stamps: Bird On A Branch

Paper: Yoyo Yellow, Rose Red, Whisper White, Cottage Wall DSP

Inks: Soft Suede, Rose Red, Rich Razzleberry, Yoyo Yellow

Accessories: White satin ribbon (dyed with Yoyo Yellow ink pad), White grosgrain ribbon (dyed with Rose Red ink pad)

Cards With Red In!

And these are my cards from this weekend with red in. Red's not normally a colour of choice for me unless I'm making Valentine's or Christmas cards, but all these challenges had red in, so here they all are.

My first is for last week's Stamp With Us colour challenge to use the picture on their blog as inspiration. I used red, lilac and yellow and white stripes for mine! I also used Mojo #49 for it as well.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes

Papers: Lovely Lilac, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Real Red, Bride DSP

Inks: Lovely Lilac, Summer Sun, Real Red

Accessories: Real Red Grosgrain ribbon, 1 3/8" circle punch, Scallop Circle Punch

My next card is for Mojo #138, Just Us Girls #33 to use Red, White, Blue and Kraft and for Our Creative Corner's Masculine Birthday Challenge.

Recipe:

Stamps: Birthday Surprise from Verve

Papers: Brilliant Blue, Real Red cs & DSP, Kraft, Whisper White

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Copics

Accessories: D'Vine Swirls Embossing Folder, White Brads

And my final card with red in is for Mercy's Sketch #73., Farm Fresh Friday's colour challenge to use cream (I used Very Vanilla), red and pink and for Just Add Ink's #17 to use one of the techniques shown on their blog hop (fab idea for a blog hop by the way!). I used Nicole's Embossing Resist technique on the panel in the middle using hearts to match Anya's dress but you can't really see them - just try to picture the rest of each heart that is hidden behind the other bits! Should have used smaller hearts!

Recipe:

Stamps: I {Heart} Hearts, Miss Anya Love Collection

Papers: Hibiscus Burst (PTI), Real Red cs & DSP, Very Vanilla

Inks: Hibiscus Burst, Versamark, Tuxedo Memento Black, Copics

Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

And that's all for now folks! Next weekend is Splitcoast Stampers Virtual Stamp Night so a full packed weekend full of about 16 challenges. I'm hosting the first one on Saturday so be sure to come and check them all out!

Cards With No Red

I didn't blog yesterday's cards as I was playing WoW too much (geek day yesterday LOL) and completely forgot, so I split this weekends cards into 2 sets - those with red in and those without. These are the ones without red in.

The first one is for Our Creative Corner's Sketch #15 and Color Throwdown's #92 to use Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive and Kraft! I dug out one of my ever faithful PTI sets for this one - they have so many beautiful flower sets, it's hard to not find one for a challenge like this.

Recipe:

Stamps: Spiral Bouquet from PTI

Papers: Kraft, So Saffron, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Tall Tales DSP (I think - I forgot to write it down!)

Inks: Old Olive, So Saffron, Baja Breeze

Accessories: Sizzix Beautiful Wings Die, Scallop Edge Punch. Blue gems from Papermania

My next card is for Stacey's Curtain Call #30 to use Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Pink Pirouette and Kraft. I also dug out an old Mojo sketch #48 for this one as well. (Now I've caught up on all the SCS sketch challenges I'm making my way through the mojo ones!).

Recipe:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, One of A Kind

Papers: Pink Pirouette, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Bella Bleu DSP

Inks: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Pumpkin Pie marker

Accessories: Pink Pirouette ribbon, Build-A-Brad, Eyelet Border Punch

My next card is for this week's sketch challenge SC280 and colour challenge CC270 to use Melon Mambo and Soft Suede with a choice of neutrals over on Splitcoast Stampers.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Dot Dot Dot

Papers: Melon Mambo cs & DSP, Soft Suede, Whisper White

Inks: Melon Mambo, Soft Suede

Accessories: Melon Mambo and Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Word Window Punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Close To Cocoa button

And finally this card is for a new challenge on the ILWS forum - it's a 48 hour speed challenge and this first one was to use the colours Temtping Turquoise, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, Basic Black and Whisper White! I pulled out another faithful, this time from Stampin' Up, Baroque Motifs and added some little butterflies to it. I'm also entering this card for Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #19 - Family and for Sweet Stamping's #26 - Get Personal. This card is actually going to my Mother-in-Law as a thank you for picking me up loads of little memo pads recently from her shopping trips (I'm making these as end of year gifts to my class so will need 30 in all!)

Recipe:

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Well Scripted

Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black, Perfect Plum, Whisper White

Inks: Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum, Basic Black

Accessories: Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon, Purple pearls from Papermania, White pearls from stash? (no name on packet), Sizzix Beautiful Wings die

Come and check out my other post for my cards with red in from this weekend.

Happy Monday!

I generally don't like Mondays but each one is another day closer to half term LOL I have a few more cards to share with you left over from the weekend.

The first one is for Sweet Stampin's Challenge #25 to use Summer Sun, Green Galore, Only Orange and Pixie Pink - wow what a challenge this was! I would have grabbed my Sweet Something for this challenge, like I did for this color combo of Stacey's a few weeks back, but I thought I'd better try something new! I grabbed Mojo 89 as well and came up with this:

Recipe:

Stamps: Itty Bitty Buds (Hostess set), Flight of the Butterfly

Papers: Summer Sun, Green Galore, Only Orange, Pixie Pink

Inks: Summer Sun, Green Galore, Only Orange, Pixie Pink

Accessories: Yellow dotty satin ribbon from stash, Daisy Pattern and D'vine Swirls Embossing Folders, Circdle Nestabilities, Clear gems from Papermania

My next card is for Stacey's Curtain Call #29 to use Summer Sun, Bordering Blue, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White - yikes another very bright combo! I also used Our Creative Corner's Sketch #14 for my layout.

Recipe:

Stamps: Round & Round (3rd Year Anniversary set) from PTI

Papers: Summer Sun, Bordering Blue, Haiku DSP

Inks: Summer Sun, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss

Accessories: Tangerine Tango Ribbon, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Circle Nestabilities, Spotty Buttons from Papermania

My next card is for Crazy for Challenges #36 to use the little poem What Little Boys Are Made Of as inspiration for a project and immediately the retired Unfroggetable set came to mind. I used Splitcoast Stampers Sketch layout SC279 and Color Combo CC82 to use Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Real Red and Very Vanilla as well.

Recipe:

Stamps: Unfroggetable

Papers: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery DSP, Summer Picnic DSP, Haiku DSP

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: None

My next card is one that I really like and is for the Farm Fresh Friday sketch challenge. This stamp has been bugging me for ages to buy it and I finally succumbed last week when in my local stamp store. I have no real idea how often I'm going to use it, but I think she's just really cute. And the sentiment I used goes just so well with it, don't you think? (Excuse the wonky photo though!)

Recipe:

Stamps: Laundry from The Greeting Farm, Sentiment from On My Couch Additions from PTI

Papers: Spring Moss from PTI, Orchid Opulence from SU, Copics White cs, Both DSP sheets from K & Co.

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Spring Moss Button, Purple Embroidery Thread

And my final card is one I really don't like to make - a sympathy card for my friend at work whose Father-in-Law died this weekend. I wanted to make a simple card without any frills and a calming colour combo so used the old CC123 to use Bordering Blue, Mellow Moss and Not Quite Navy for it.

Recipe:

Stamps: Upsy Daisy from SU, Everyday Classics (2nd Year Anniversary set) from PTI

Papers: Bordering Blue, Mellow Moss, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White

Inks: Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy

Accessories: Mellow Moss grosgrain ribbon, Brayer! (I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this, but I will be stalking Michelle Zindrof's blog for some improvements!)

And that's all for today folks! Thanks for looking and happy stamping!

...And Cards With Old Stamps

The next few cards are made with some oldie stamp sets. See this post for some of my new stamps!

The first card is for Mojo137 and CC269 to use Lovely Lilac, Gable Green and Cameo Coral. I tried to use as little Cameo Coral as possible as it's one of those colours I just cannot work with at all! And now I think there's a bit too much Lovely Lilac instead LOL

Recipe:

Stamps: Floral Symphony, Birthday Surprise, Beautiful Kindness all from Verve Stamps

Papers: Cameo Coral, Gable Green, Whisper White, Lovely Lilac DSP, Pink Flamingo DSP

Inks: Lovely Lilac, Gable Green and Cameo Coral

Accessories: Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Paper Piercer and mat, Green flower brads from Papermania

My next card uses Best Wishes & More, which is a great set for a range of occasions, but I especially love the flower in it.This one uses Mercy's Sketch #72 and the color combo from Just Add Ink's #16 to use Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red and So Saffron. I love this color combo!

Recipe:

Stamps: Best Wishes & More, Well Scripted

Papers: Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink cs & DSP, Ruby Red, Whisper White

Inks: Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red, So Saffron

Accessories: So Saffron Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, D'Vine Swirls Embossing Folder

And my final project is one I have been working on and off with for a couple of weeks now and thought I'd finish it up for Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #18 - Anything But A Card, although I have now decided to add a bit more to the insides as well!

I went to a Copics class a couple of weeks ago and the lady doing the class (Hello Louise!) showed us a folder she had made using the Copic colour charts. She also gave us all a copy of the charts, printed onto the Copic white cardstock as well, so I set about making my own! I have filled in all the Copics that I have so far and now know which Copic sketch markers to get next.

All the pages are different colours, related to the colours of the chart attached to them. Each page is also inked in the same colour ink as well and now I think I might add some image of some kind in the same range of colours to each page.

This is one of the pages on the inside and you can see why I want to add a bit more - it's a bit plain!

Recipe:

Stamps: Sweet Serenity wheel, Tilda With Sunflower

Papers: All pages have Basic Black mounts and Copic white cs, in order the pages are: Covers - Soft Suede, Real Red, Melon Mambo, Elegant Eggplant, Lovely Lilac, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Close To Cocoa, Basic Gray, Rose Red

Inks: Same colours as above

Accessories: Sizzix Chocolatey Goodness Alphabet, Sizzix Vine, Flowers and Flourish set, Soft Suede and Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Bind It All

And that's all for today folks! Thanks for reading and happy stamping!
