Colour Challenges

I did a few colour challenges this weekend, combined with other ones of course.

My first card is for Stamp With Us' colour inspiration challenge. I used red, pink and orange from the lipsticks for mine. It is also for Farm Fresh Friday's sketch challenge. I thought this card would be ideal to use at the end of the school year to give out to one of my team.

Recipe:

Stamps: Teacher Anya, Tart & Tangy, Frames with Flourish, Sincere Salutations

Papers: Pink Passion, Pumpkin Pie, Copic White, Summer Picnic DSP

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Pink Passion, Pumpkin Pie, SU Markers in Real Red, Green Galore and Close To Cocoa

Accessories: Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon

My next colour challenge card is for CC276 to use Soft Suede, Apricot Appeal and Almost Amethyst and for Just Us Girls Challenge #39 to make an apron card. I have never done one of these before so made my own template for it as I don't have a printer (that works anyway!) and couldn't print out the template they linked to.

I thought this style card would be great as a thank you for when I go visiting friends for dinner etc and the slip in the pocket does say thank you on it, but I forgot to photograph it so you could see.

Recipe:

Stamps: Three For You, Elegant Thank You

Papers: Soft Suede, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White, Tea Party DSP

Inks: Apricot Appeal, Almost Amethyst

Accessories: Three for You Punch, Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon

My last card for the day is for Stampin' Royalty's challenge #25 to use Basic Black, Taken With Teal, Lavender Lace and Pink Passion and for Papertake Weekly's Challenge #43. This colour combo is absolutely gorgeous and will definitely go in my faves colour combos list.

Recipe:

Stamps: Priceless

Papers: Taken With Teal, Lavender Lace, Pink Passion, Whisper White, Night & Day DSP

Inks: Taken With Teal, Pink Passion, Lavender Lace

Accessories: Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls Embossing Folder, Lilac brads from stash, Anita's Teal satin ribbon

A Box of Challenges #3

I did another gift set for one of my TAs at school and used the colour combo from the last card on this post from Stacey's Curtain Call last week. I combined lots of sketches for this one.

This is the whole set in the box...

This is the box with all 4 cards...

And these are the individual card photos.

This first one is for Our Creative Corner's Sketch #21.

This second card is for SC286.

And the third card is for Mojo#144.

I'm also entering this whole set for the Just Add Ink's challenge #23 to use DSP. I used loads of the same 2 patterned papers for this box set.

Recipe for the whole box set:

Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Elegant Thank You

Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Cameo Coral, Garden Green, Whisper White, Pink Flamingo DSP

Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Cameo Coral, Green Galore

Accessories: Whisper White Grosgrain ribbon, Card Candy from Craftworks Cards, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Labels 4 Nestabilities, White brad from stash, Eyelet Border Punch

Inspiring Inkin' Challenge #30 - A Theme Challenge

This fortnight's challenge on the Inspiring Inkin' Challenge blog is to CASE one of the design team member's card. CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything (or Selectively Edit depending on your interpretation of copying!). The side twist is to use a technique, colour combo or layout you haven't used before.

I CASEd this card of Amy's for the gorgeous shimmery flower she did, using the new shimmer paints. I set about to do mine, had chosen all my colours etc etc when I realised I don't have the Rich Regals reinkers so I used my ink pad and sponge dauber to dye the flowers and when they were dry (which was really quickly) I went back over with a layer of the shimmer paint, and doesn't it just look beautiful?!

I used Sweet Stampin's Challenge #32 for the colours, to use blue, green and brown and old Mojo#48 for the layout.

Recipe:

Stamps: Circle Circus

Papers: Taken With Teal, Close To Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Sweet Pea DSP

Inks: Taken With Teal, Close To Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Frost White Shimmer Paint

Accessories: Pretties Kit, Certainly Celery brad and ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch

New stamps...

I had a nice big order from Papertrey Ink delivered this week (after spending nearly 2 weeks in customs mind you!) and I was getting craft buying withdrawal symptoms so bought a few other bits this week as well.

My first card is the only non PTI card and I used the new stamps and papers from the Dovecraft's Piece of Cake collection. This is for Just Us Girls' challenge #38 to use light pink, chocolate and vanilla - perfect combo for cupcakes and ice creams! I used old Mojo#37 for the layout as well.

Recipe:

Stamps: Piece of Cake from Dovecraft, Cupcake Collection from PTI

Papers: Pretty in Pink, Chocoalte Chip, Very Vanilla, Piece of Cake pack from Dovecraft

Inks: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink Tafetta ribbons, Buttons from stash and PTI, Pink Stickles

My first PTI card uses the colours from Just Add Ink's #22 to use Rich Razzleberry, Kiwi Kiss, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White. This is also for SCS' Free For All challenge #16 to make an aperture card.

Recipe:

Stamps: Asian Fusion

Papers: Stampers Select white from PTI, Tempting Turquoise from SU

Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Kiwi Kiss

Accessories: Kiwi Kiss ribbon, Labels 10 Nestabilities

My next PTI card uses a set I got in my last order and some papers and felt I got in this order. I just LOVE this new felt from PTI and am so glad I ordered some. It's really thick and cuts really well and I love the added texture it gives to a card. I used Mojo#143 for the layout and used the colours from the DSP for the rest of my card.

Recipe:

Stamps: Asian Fusion

Papers: Hawaiian Shores, Beautiful Bloom DSP both from PTI, Real Red, Whisper White both from SU

Inks: Hawaiian Shores, White gel pen

Accessories: Simply Chartreuse ribbon and felt, Hawaiian Shores felt and buttons, Pure Poppy button, White flower brad from Papermania, Circle Nestabilities, Beautiful Blooms Dies, Sizzlets Leaf #3 die

My next card combines a new set with an older one, both from PTI though. This is for Papertrey Peeps #10 to use turquoise, chartreuse, purple, gray and white. I also used a very old Mojo#2 for the layout.

Recipe:

Stamps: Beautiful Blooms II, Take Three: Summer, Background Basics: Botanicals

Papers: Hawaiian Shores, Stampers Select White, Pretty Pastels DSP all from PTI, Going Gray from SU

Inks: Hawaiian Shores, Lavender Moon

Accessories: Simply Chartreuse ribbon and felt, Hawaiian Shores button, Beautiful Blooms die, Sizzlets Leaf #3 die

And my final card of the week is for A Passion for Papertrey's one layer card challenge - I always struggle with these as you can guarantee that my stamping won't be straight and guess what? My sentiment is slightly wonky! This is also for SCS' Free For All challenge #17 to use animals, Sweet Stampin's challenge #31 to do a clean and simple card - not sure if this is too busy for a CAS card to be honest but at least there's no layers. And it is also for Papertake's Ice Cream Flavours challenge - I used raspberry, chocolate and berry for my ice cream colours.

Recipe:

Stamps: Big & Bold Wishes, Take Three: Summer both from PTI

Papers: Stampers Select, Raspberry Fizz both from PTI, Chocolate Chip from SU

Inks: Raspberry Fizz, Berry Sorbet both from PTI, Chocolate Chip from SU

Accessories: Berry Sorbet ribbon, Double Scalloped punch from EK Success, pink glitter from stash.

Don't forget to come and see my other post for cards I made this week using older stamps.

Old Stamps...

I love getting new stamps (who doesn't?!) but I do try to remember some of the old ones and the not so old. These are just a few cards and challenges I've done with older stamps and this post here is for my nice new stamps I got this week.

This first card is for Stampin' Royalty's #24 Masculine theme challenge. I also used Our Creative Corner's sketch #20 and SCS' CC275 to use Barely Banana, Mellow Moss and Real Red. I just love this bright red sports car - perfect for a man's card, don't you think?!

Recipe:

Stamps: Boy in Car from Elzybells, Loads of Love Accessories from SU

Papers: Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Copic White, Patterns Pack III from SU

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Real Red Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Zigzag punch from Martha Stewart, Dew Drops

My next card is for 2 challenges from In Love With Stamping: the colour challenge for June to use Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Basic Black and Whisper White OR Very Vanilla and the Speed Challenge for this month which is a sketch challenge.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Wow Flowers

Papers: Old Olive, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery DSP (retired)

Inks: Old Olive, Certainly Celery

Accessories: Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon, Theater Ribbon Originals (retired)

My next card is for SCS' Sketch Challenge #285, Farm Fresh Friday's challenge to use at least 3 buttons and Color Throwdown's #97 to use Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy and Cameo Coral.

Recipe:

Stamps: Miss Anya Love Collection from The Greeting Farm, Everyday Classics from PTI, Dot Dot Dot from SU

Papers: Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, Ginger Blossoms DSP, Copic White

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Green buttons from stash, Navy ribbon from stash, Boho Blossoms Punch from SU

And my last card using some (not quite so) old stamps is one for Stacey's Curtain Call #35 to use Green Galore, Garden Green, tempting Turquoise, Cameo Coral and Whisper White. I used old Mojo #7 for the layout.

Recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Vogue

Papers: Cameo Coral, Garden Green, Whisper White, Pink Flamingo DSP

Inks: Green Galore, Cameo Coral, Tempting Turquoise

Accessories: Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, Circle Nestabilities, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Come back and check my challenges using some of my new stamps here - I got my latest order from PTI this week and bought a couple of others as well.

Papertrey Posse Parade of Blogs

Papertrey Posse is a new Papertrey Ink challenge blog that I recently found through the Papertrey Ink forum. Their first big challenge starts today with a sketch challenge and this is my take on it. I did forget to round the top right corner, but nevermind huh?!

I also combined this one with Papertrey Peeps #6 to use an old PTI set and add some bling! This set was in my first order (along with Piece of Cake and some card, ink and ribbon in Aqua Mist and Sweet Blush I believe it was!) and although I haven't used it for a while now, it's still a gorgeous set.

Recipe:

Stamps: Women of Life from PTI

Papers: Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon, Spring Moss, Polka Dot Parade DSP all from PTI

Inks: Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon both from PTI, Kiwi Kiss (SU - still haven't got Spring Moss ink yet, tut tut!!!)

Accessories: Plum Pudding buttons, Spring Moss buttons, Lavender Moon Grosgrain ribbon all from PTI, Diamond Stickles, Circles Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Some pink and orange cards...

These are other cards I did this weekend and looking back at them they either have pink or orange in them. I'm not a particular user of orange unless I'm doing Hallowe'en cards, but I do like these colour combo challenges!

This first one is for A Passion For Papertrey's Chippy Chip Chip challenge to use chipboard (nearly missed this one!), for Papertrey Peeps #7 to be inspired by a photo on the A Creative Mint website. I used this photo here for my colour combo. I also used Our Creative Corner's Sketch #19 for my layout.

I had to open a full pack of Stampin' Up chipboard for this challenge and wasn't majorly successful at using it either - that might explain why it was still unopened! I tried colouring the flower pieces with my copics but the colours weren't the shade I wanted (why isn't chipboard white?!!), so I tried to cover 2 pieces with DSP and while they are ok, they don't look quite how I wanted. I think I might invest in some of those acrylic paint dabbers so I can actually use my chipboard for once! Anyway on to the card...

Recipe:

Stamps: Everyday Classics from PTI

Papers: Stampers Select White cs, Hibiscus Burst, Pretty Pastels DSP, Bitty Dot Basics DSP

Inks: Copics, Hibiscus Burst

Accessories: On Board Batch of Blooms (SU), Lemon Pearls from stash, 1" circle punch, Circle Nestabilities, Lemon Tart grosgrain (I have fallen in love with this colour - it's so pretty. I only have a small bit of ribbon from Steph left and need some more!)

My next card is an orange one this time and is for Just Add Ink's #21 for the sketch, Curtain Call #34 to use Sahara Sand, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Basic Gray & Dusty Durango and for Sweet Stampin's #30 to use doodling, which I did round the edges of the circle and the scallops.

Recipe:

Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes

Papers: Dusty Durango, Sahara Sand (why don't I use this colour more often, it's lovely as a neutral), Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP

Inks: Basic Gray ink & marker, Sahara Sand marker, Dusty Durango, Rich Razzleberry (both coloured with ink pads & blender pens)

Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Rich Razzleberry & Dusty Durango polka dot ribbons

My next pink card is for Farm Fresh Friday's sketch and for SCS' Free For All #14 to be inspired by a collection other than crafting stuff. I have many collections other than stamping stuff including shoes and handbags (to be honest what woman doesn't collect those?!), books (I think I could probably start my own library!), supernatural stuff (DVDs, books, T-shirts, figurines etc, but not the crap Twilight series!) and fairies (which I suppose could come under my supernatural theme. I especially love Rock Hard Fairies and those by Jasmine Becket-Griffith). I also have a passion for anything in pink and black and most of wardrobe consists of those colours! So this card combines my colour passion with my love of fairies.

Recipe:

Stamps: Flutterby Anya from The Greeting Farm, Birthday Surprise from Verve

Papers: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Copic White cs, Pink DSP from Sending Love Speciality, Striped DSP from KaiserCraft

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, White velour ric rac, Primas, Black brad from Papermania, Diamond Stickles

And my final orange card is for Color Throwdown's #96 to use So Saffron, Cool Caribbean and Pumpkin Pie and I used old Mojo sketch #29 for the layout. I only have a little bit of DSP in Cool Caribbean as I didn't even do stamping when that year's in-colors were out, so I have to be very frugal with it LOL

Recipe:

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly

Papers: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Petals & Paisleys DSP

Inks: Pumpkin Pie

Accessories: Butterfly Punch, Glitter Glue, Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Sizzix Flowers, Vines and Flourishes Set

And that's all for today folks. I've got a busy week at work next week, finishing off those end of year reports so will be doing loads of crafting at the weekend to make up for it!

A Box of Challenges #2

I made this box set of cards a couple of weeks ago and decided it would make a great end of year present for a work colleague at school. I made another set this weekend for another colleague and need to do another 4 before school's out for summer! Bring it on!!!

Anyways, I combined 3 of the sketch challenges I do from this week to add to this card and using the same stamp set and colour scheme I came up with this box set.

These are the cards with the box...

And these are the individual card photos. The first one is for SC283. I deliberately kept it quite plain so it could be used for any occasion.

The second one is for SC284.

And the last one is for Mojo#142. This one could be a thank you card or just a praise kind of card.

Recipe for the whole set:

Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Congrats (retired SAB set), On A Pedestal

Papers: Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Bella Bleu DSP

Inks: Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray, Not Quite Navy

Accessories: Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray and Whisper White Tafetta ribbons, Oval Nestabilities, Eyelet Border Punch, range of brads from stash, Liquid Pearls, Cuttlebug Corner Die

Phew! So that's 2 down and 4 to go - will see what sketch challenges I can incorporate to my next set next weekend!

Inspiring Inkin' Challenge #29 - A Technique Challenge

The challenge this fortnight over on Inspiring Inkin' Challenges is to use the emboss resist technique with a side twist of using at least one punch. The emboss resist technique is so quick and simple to do - stamp an image/background/whatever using Versamark and emboss with either clear or white embossing powder. Ink over the image using a brayer, dauber or a sponge and wipe off any excess from your image and it will show through the colour. Instant design! And ideal to use if you want a certain colour background paper and haven't got one too!

Here's my offering using this week's colour challenge on SCS, CC274 to use Tempting Turquoise, Ruby Red and Cameo Coral, Papertake Weekly's Challenge #42 for the sketch and Sir Stampalot's June Challenge, Punch It.

Recipe:

Stamps: Hello Again, Bella's Bloom

Papers: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Mellow Moss

Inks: Cameo Coral, Versamark, Tempting Turquoise

Accessories: Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Extra Large Bird Punch

PTI cards from this weekend

I do love Stampin' Up stuff (I should do being a demonstrator and all), but I also have a slight addiction to Papertrey Ink stuff as well. I especially love that their ribbon comes in 5 or 6 different varieties for each colour and that you can buy a huge bag of buttons in a range of styles and sizes in each colour as well. And of course I love their stamps - the style is so different from SU.

I recently found 3 blogs that do challenges just for Papertrey Ink stuff and have made a start on doing them, both the current ones and the old ones, just for fun!

These first two cards are for the Papertrey Pixies blog challenges. Card #1 is for May's challenge, to make your own background paper as well as Mojo #141, another for Free For All #10 and CC273 to use Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana and Garden Green. I don't particularly like this one - it's just a bit too busy for me, but I didn't get time to do another one.

Recipe:

Stamps: Everyday Button Bits, Guide Lines II

Papers: Close to Cocoa, Garden Green, Barely Banana, Whisper White

Inks: Close to Cocoa, Garden Green, Barely Banana

Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Yellow and Green flower buttons from stash, Green satiny twill from stash

My second card for Papertrey Pixies is for June's Challenge which was to use the picture for inspiration. I loved the layout and chose just three of the colours as my main colours. The fabric swatches reminded me of little picture frames so I went straight for my Sign Language set for this one - perfect for little picture frames, don't you think?

Recipe:

Stamps: Sign Language

Papers: Kraft, Chocolate Chip (SU), Berry Sorbet (PTI), Non SU/PTI white cs

Inks: New Leaf, Berry Sorbet (PTI), Summer Sun (SU) I don't have any PTI yellows just yet.

Accessories: Berry Sorbet ribbon, New Leaf button, Word Window punch, Double Loops Round the Page punches from Martha Stewart

The next PTI challenge blog I found was Papertrey Peeps and this card is for their challenge #9 to make a card with a travel theme. I also used the In Love With Stamping June challenge Sketch, Free For All #15 to make a boy themed card and CC139 to use Soft Sky (I substituted with Aqua Mist), Wild Wasabi ( I subbed it with New Leaf) and Ruby Red (haven't got a PTI substitute for this one). My bike is stamped with Aqua Mist and looks a bit pale in the photo but does stand out more in real life! Wonder if it needs reinking?

Recipe:

Stamps: Everyday Button Bits

Papers: Ruby Red (SU) Aqua Mist, New Leaf, Dotty Biscotti DSP (PTI)

Inks: Ruby Red (SU), Aqua Mist (PTI)

Accessories: Aqua Mist grosgrain ribbon, New Leaf buttons (PTI)

And my final PTI card this weekend was for Papertrey Peeps challenge #8 to use red and green but no Christmas theme and for old Mojo #17.

Recipe:

Stamps: Round and Round

Papers: Spring Moss, Pretty Pastels DSP (PTI), Real Red (SU)

Inks: Spring Moss (PTI), Real Red (SU)

Accessories: Oval Nestabilities, Red gems from stash, Word Window Punch, 1" circle punch, Real Red satin ribbon (SU), Spring Moss Buttons (PTI)

And that's all my PTI cards for this weekend. If you want to see my Stampin' Up cards from this weekend you can see them here.

Stampin' Up cards from this weekend

These are the cards I made this weekend, using Stampin' Up stamps. I do tend to use Stampin' Up cardstock and ink more than any other (Mainly because of all the colour challenges I do I think), but I do like the quality of it!

I love the bright colour combo for this first one, which I got from Color Throwdown's #95 to use Basic Black, tempting Turquoise, Green Galore and Pink Passion. I used the sketch for SC282 and both Just Add Ink #20 and the June technique challenge on the In Love With Stamping forum were to use stitching and I actually got my needle and thread out for this one!

Recipe:

Stamps: Happy Everything, Live Your Dream

Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Basic Black, Whisper White, Rainbow Sherbet DSP (retired)

Inks: Whisper White craft ink, Stampin' Pastels, Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise

Accessories: Black and Pink Embroidery Thread from stash, Pink brads from stash

My next card is another sketch challenge from SCS, #281 this time and the inspiration challenge from In Love With Stamping. I used the colours for the inspiration and the swirls on the background of the bookmark and the flourish at the bottom.

Recipe:

Stamps: framed With Love, Thank You Kindly

Papers: Kraft, Orchid Opulence, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla, Bella Bleu DSP, Cottage Wall DSP

Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Orchid Opulence

Accessories: Elegant Eggplant grosgrain ribbon

And my final SU card is for the Stamp With Us Get well challenge, using the colours Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Night of Navy from Stacey's Curtain Call #33 and I used old Mojo #30 for the sketch.

Recipe:

Stamps: En Francais, Flower Accent, Sincere Salutations

Papers: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Spring Fling DSP (retired)

Inks: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Certainly Celery

Accessories: Night of Navy buttons, Boho Blossoms Punch, Whisper White Satin Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch

I also made some PTI cards this weekend which you can see here if you want.

Happy Stamping!

In Love With Stamping June Blog Hop

Hello and welcome from Kara's blog if you have just hopped from there. If you are starting here, make sure you go round all the blog in the hop until you get back to mine to see all the gorgeous projects in the blog hop.

Stampin' Up have recently released 3 new colours that will be fully avilable in the new Colour Renovation line up from October when our new catalogue is released. These three colours are Melon Mambo (a gorgeous bright pink), Rich Razzleberry (a rich purple) and Soft Suede (a mid brown). They are available in the ink pads, cardstock and limited edition polka dot grosgrain ribbon, all of which are absolutely gorgeous.

There are also some gorgeous new designer papers available, called Cottage Wall which use Old Olive, Orchid Opulence and the new Rich Razzleberry. These are just to die for.

This blog hop, organised by a group of demonstrators on the In love With Stamping forum, has been designed to show you a huge range of different products and techniques that will hopefully inspire you to use these new three colours.

My first project uses the new colours with a favourite set of mine from the mini catalogue, Vintage Vogue and the coordinating wheel Very Vintage and the new extra large bird punch, also available from the mini catalogue.

I made 2 milk cartons, one in each of Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry and used the Very Vintage wheel in the same colour ink, for a subtle tone on tone colour. I used the bird punch to make my little birdie and painted them with some champagne mist shimmer paint, also available from the mini catalgoue, to add a bit of shimmer to them. The holder I made using the Soft Suede cardstock and again stamped using the Very Vinage wheel in the same colour ink. Decorated with some polka dot ribbon and this was all done!

I made a matching card so it can be given as a whole gift set.

My next card uses the beautiful Bird On A Branch set, also in the mini catalogue, and was one of the projects that Amanda did at the recent team training she led. (I told you didn't I, Amanda, that this set was gorgeous? LOL)

And my final project is a mini concertina book designed again by Amanda and it showcases the different patterns available in the Cottage Wall papers set.

And these are just a couple of the pages inside.

And that mine all done, so be sure to hop on over to Sue's blog and see what gorgeous projects she has in store for you.

All Things Magical and Mythical #119 Featuring Mermaid Birthday Party Treasure from Faery Ink

Good morning everyone and welcome to this week's All Things Magical and Mythical post. I haven't used a Faery Ink image for ages so...
