ILWS UnConvention Challenges

This weekend is the Stampin' Up Convention for Europe, over at Disneyland Paris, but for those of us who couldn't make it we decided on the In Love With Stamping forum to set our own little challenges and have some fun ourselves. (There is no way in the world my headteacher would give me time off to go stamping! Not when I have a student teacher in my classroom either! If only SU would move convention to the middle of the summer holidays and I might get to go one year!)

Anyway onto the challenges...

The first one was set by Laura and was to make a gift set. This could be a card with a box or bag, etc. Although strictly speaking my set isn't new, it's one I haven't blogged yet. I made this gift set as a welcome present to my new downline, Mandy, who joined me in October. I made a notebook with matching pen, Post it note holder, Gift box containing a box of brads and some ribbons. She also had a matching card and a pack of the gorgeous Mocha Morning DSP too.

The first challenge on Friday was set by Rozelle and for this one you had to use a monochromatic colour scheme and repeated stamping too. I used a set that is now retired and one that I think I have maybe used only once before - tut tut!!! And of course for my monochrome colour scheme I went with my fave colour - pink! This card is also for F4A91 to use coloured squares.

And the second challenge on Friday was to make 4 ATCs, but I haven't done them yet, so will add those tomorrow.

The first challenge on Saturday was set by Laura again and was to use colours you wouldn't usually use. Now last week's Color Challenge CC348 on SCS was perfect for this challenge as I would never use Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Tempting Turquoise together, so decided to go with that one. (I don't actually like Cajun Craze and avoid it wherever possible!). I also used Friday Mash Up's Challenge #33 for the sketch and mashed it up with a rosette (love doing these, but don't do them enough!) and SUO Challenge #32 Thankful to make a thank you card.

And my final card for today is for my own challenge, which was to use your favourite things on a card, be is colour combo, stamp set, technique, embellishments etc. I went straight for my fave colour combo of pink, brown and cream and my fave stamp set Baroque Motifs with my fave sentiment set Sincere Salutations. Added to all of that was my fave embellishments of ribbon, lace and gems! Phew! Lots of faves in there!

And that's all for today folks! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Vanessa,
I think the colour combo of Turquoise and Cajun Craze is very Aztec and look faboulous together, for someone who doesn't like CC, you've done a great job of using it, this card is just lovely. I love your hand stamped background paper.

Thanks for sharing your fabulous project with us.
