The Longest Card Ever!

Oh! My! Goodness! This card took me forever to make and it's not really that fancy either. I decided to dig out my Silhouette Portrait machine after having not used it for absolutely ages and now I remember why I don't bother with it. I officially hate it! It sucks! Big Time! I don't know if I need a new blade, a new mat or just a new machine, but it just does not like me whatsoever! I originally cut the heart frame from pink pearlescent card and used 3 sheets up getting bad cuts! The first one it didn't cut all the way through, the second it moved when it was double cutting, the third attempt it seemed to have moved and cut the edge off on one side although I hadn't move it on the computer at all. I then had to swap to the ivory card and it worked after me holding the card the whole time it was cutting.

And then I moved on to the hearts in the corners - they worked fine first time! Thought I was getting somewhere until I cut the birds out and had to do them 3 times before I got a good cut! What on earth is wrong with this flaming machine. It's only just over a year old but I really wanted to throw it out of the window today! I cleaned the blade, stuck loads of tape round the edge of each piece of card to stop it from moving and it was still rubbish at cutting! Any hints are much appreciated!

Anyway on to the actual card after that rant! I was asked to make a card for my TA at work to give to her son on his wedding day. I was left to choose colours and design but it had to have both of their names on. As it is an Indian wedding, I didn't want to go for a traditional bride and groom as that is not what they are doing (The wedding is in India and sounds fabulous - a horse will be bringing the groom down a rose petal covered street to the temple whilst drummers play on the roadside! Can't wait to see all the photos!)

I'm entering this huge card (It's a 7 3/4" card) into Live & Love Crafts February Challenge #32 Hearts, Creative Fingers Challenge #66 Anything Goes, Creative Knockouts Challenge #75 to use hearts, Through The Craft Room Door's Anything Goes Challenge, Fab 'n' Funky's Challenge #245 to use hearts and/or flowers, Creative Expressions Challenge #299 Love Is In The Air and for The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge Anything Goes (but without the twist this week).

And finally, if you have read all that you probably want to see the actual card!

Recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Alphabet COL1380 from Marianne Design

Papers: Very Vanilla from Stampin' Up, Pink and Ivory pearlescent card from local craft store

Inks: Regal Rose (Retired) from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Vintage Alphabet COL1380 Dies from Marianne Design, Pastel Raspberry & White Opal Liquid Pearls, Die Cuts (Heart frame, Flouished Hearts, Love Birds) all from Silhouette Studio

And that's all from me today folks! I think a 4 hour + card is more than enough! LOL It never takes me that long to make a card and the stupid machine should have been able to do it much quicker than that if just would just work!

  8. Your card is beautiful. I'm sorry it took so long and so many tries to get good cuts. I don't own that machine otherwise I'd tell you what I know. I would say try a new mat and a new blade and then if those two don't fix it then call the company. Good luck Thanks for joining us at Through the Craft Room Door.
