Ching-Chou Kuik Challenge Post for January

Good morning and welcome to another challenge from the Ching-Chou Kuik Design Team. This month we are doing something a little different for our first challenge/inspiration posts. All the members of the design team were given the same image to use rather than pick the one we wanted to use. There have been so many gorgeous uses of this image, The Wild Princess, so make sure you check out all the other DT cards and projects.

Our challenge this month is to use flowers and add some ribbon - a nice easy one for the first one of the new year!

Here is mine. I wanted to use some soft pastel colours so went for a fave combo of mine, peach and pale green with touches of brown and yellow. I also used the punched out butterflies on the frame round my image - a great idea to add details and not waste them!

Happy New Year!

I know! I know! I'm a few days late, but I don't usually make New Year's cards. I have made this one especially for a few challenges. And they are...Dare To Be Sassy Thursday's Challenge #262 To Ring In The New Year, Sassy Studio's Facebook January Progressive Challenge to use the New Year Disco Ball digi, Aud Sentiments Challenge #122 to use the word new and for the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge to use the sketch below.

And here's the sketch...

And here's my take on it...I added stars instead of flowers as I didn't think flowers would work on this card! I'm still having issues with my skin colours despite cleaning them. I'm going to try cleaning them again this week, but the problem one is my E21 which had a new nib put in last week as well, so no idea how it can be that bad already! I haven't done THAT much colouring, have I?! LOL

And that's all from me for today folks! Thanks for stopping by.

New Year's Resolutions

I generally don't make new year's resolutions as I never keep them, but I have set myself a reading challenge like I do every year, although I failed last year's challenge terribly. I only managed to read 74 books out of 100, but I did have a LOT of reading to do for my Masters degree course which left little time for fun reading some weeks! So this year I am determined to get my 100 books in and have finished one book already (Mercy Blade by Faith Hunter if you're interested - fantastic series about a skinwalker, who works as a rogue vampire hunter)!

So anyway on to my card...This one is for Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenge #27 New Year's Resolutions, 613 Avenue Create's Challenge #105 Anything Goes and for Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge #1 Anything Goes as well.

Lacy Sunshine Challenge #49 Sparkly and New

Good morning and welcome to my post for the new Lacy Sunshine challenge. This fortnight we are challenging you to make something sparkly and to use something new too. I have used some sparkly, shimmery really, card, lots of Wink of Stella for a subtle glitter and a new digi from one of Heather's newest collection, the Ethereal Enchantresses. I love this collection of beautiful fairies and girls!

And here's my card using the cute Constella Ethereal Enchantress. I kept my star shaped card fairly simple and for once I have no ribbon! It does feel a bit naked without it LOL, but it just didn't look right with some on.

Recipe:

Paper: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White both from Stampin' Up, Blue Pearlescent from local crafts store

Lovely Irene and her Birds

I really wanted to enter the Outlawz Friday Colouring challenge as they are sponsored by Art by MiRan, one of my design team this month, but I didn't have any Art by MiRan digis with birds on. So....I asked Mi Ran if I could have this one and she sent it to me straight away to use. Such a lovely, generous lady! I'm just so glad to be on her team!

Anyway this card is for The Outlawz Friday Colouring Challenge to use birds, Kraftin' Kimmie's Wonderful Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes, My Time To Craft Challenge #273 and Natalie and Amy's Challenge #28 both of which want you to use new things. I have a new digi stamp, a new pad of paper bought in my local craft store's after Christmas sale and unopened until today, my new Hanging Cage die and my new Elegant Oval dies, so lots of new goodies on this one!

And here she is. I had loads of problems with my skin colour Copics on this one, which is why she's a bit darker than usual. I cleaned my pens before I started but they just wouldn't blend properly at all and I had to keep adding more and more ink to get it as even looking as possible. Will try them again tomorrow but I have no idea what to do with them and 2 out of the 5 colours have had new nibs put in them in the last couple of weeks too. :(

A Purple Christmas Thank You

I did a red one, now it's time for a purple Christmas thank you card. I have loads of Christmas images that I just didn't get chance to colour up this year and then when The Outlawz sent me this gorgeous one from All Dressed Up for their progressive challenge for January, I just had to join in the challenge. I don't start Christmas cards this early in the year, but a few thank you cards never go amiss. Always good to say thank you to those who sent presents!

This card is for The Outlawz Progressive Challenge for January, Through The Craft Room Door's Anything Goes Challenge, Fairytale's Challenge #108 to use snow, Digi Designs Winter Challenge, A Gem of A Challenge #135 to use something new, which is my digi stamp and finally for Polkadoodles Challenge #1 to use their tic-tac-toe board. I used the top line of a sentiment, image and die cut! Nice and easy one.

Art by MiRan Facebook Challenge #1 for January - Anything Goes

Good morning and welcome to my post for the Art by MiRan Facebook Challenge. Our theme this time is an easy one - anything goes as long as you use an image from Art by MiRan and that can include the rubber stamps from Treasured Times and Whimsy as well as those from the Art by MiRan etsy store.

I used the gorgeous Lady Penelope for my card this time and she was just so gorgeous to colour! She definitely looks ready to celebrate doesn't she? I didn't want to do a New Year's card as we generally don't send them out as separate cards here in the UK. You generally write Happy New Year inside a Christmas card to do both celebrations together, so I just made a time to celebrate card instead so it could be used for any special celebration.

Lots of glitz and bling on this one which always makes it so much harder to photograph.

Recipe:

Stamps: Lady Penelope from Art by MiRan, Birthday Greetings from Wild Rose Studio

Papers: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Naturals Ivory, Champagne Glimmer Card all from Stampin' Up, Copic X-Press It Blending Card, Dusk Patterned Papers from Perfect Prints

Inks: Real Red from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, Silver Star, Clear Gloss, Clear Star Gelly Roll Pens

Accessories: Basic Black Satin Ribbon (Retired?), 1/4" circle Punch both from Stampin' Up, Gems from stash, Anja's Vintage Decoration Die LR0269, Anja's Vintage Ornament 2 Die LR0270, Border Stitch Die CR1250 all from Marianne Creatables, Fancy Oval Die 6002/0258 from Joy Crafts, Faux Quilled Blooms Dies from Sue Wilson @Creative Expressions

Copics Used:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04,, R20, R30

Gloves & Trim - C3, C5, C7, C9

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop on over to the Art by MiRan Facebook group and check out the other cards from the DT who have joined us this fortnight as well as Bonnie our newest DT member, who is joining my Facebook team along with Pauline who is currently on vacation! Lucky lady! Don't forget to join in the challenge this time as well - there is a special surprise for everyone who enters too!

Art by MiRan 1st Birthday Celebrations

Good morning and welcome to my post for the Art by MiRan Showcase blog. It's the first birthday of Art by MiRan and I am lucky enough to on their design team for the Facebook Challenges. I remember when I first saw Art by MiRan's images. I fell in love with them instantly and just had to join in with their challenge.  My first ever Art by MiRan card was using Star-Dressy Girl 03 back in January last year.

The design team have all been set a challenge for the Art by MiRan birthday celebrations. I have chosen to take my very first DT card and recreate it. My first card as part of the Facebook design team was using the cute Mermaid.

And here is my new take on her - different colours and a different layout, but still a cute card, don't you think?! Completely by accident I have used the same border die, but this one is a lot more frilly than the first one. I have a thing for pink and turquoise at the minute and this image just worked so well in these colours.

Recipe:

Stamps: Mermaid from Art by MiRan, Flower Fusion #1 from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Strawberry Slush, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Brights DSP Stack (Retired), In Colors DSP Stack 2012 - 14 (Retired) all from Stampin' Up, Copic X-Press It Blending Card

Accessories: Die-Namics Fancy Flourish Die, Double Scalloped Border Die both from MFT, Filigree Corner Die from la-La Land Crafts, Flowers from The Range & Wild Orchid Crafts, Stamens from Live & Love Crafts, Stardust Stickles, Ribbon from stash, Gems from The Works, Romantic Rectangles Dies from Spellbinders

Copics Used:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20, R30
Hair - BG000, BG01, BG02, BG07
Eyes - BG72, BG75, BG78

Every day for the next 2 weeks or so a different member of  the design team will be sharing their projects with you, so make sure you are popping over each day to the Art by MiRan Showcase blog and see all the gorgeousness there!
