The Just Us Girls Challenge Blog is offering a place on their Design Team and I thought I would have a go at trying out for it. If you don't try, you don't get! And I've never tried before so have never got, so here goes! I've been doing the Just Us Girls weekly challenges for a while now and they are always fantastic challenges - always pushing me to try out new things, whether it be a new sketch, colour combo or to actually make use of all those templates I buy and download and never get round to using. Make sure you check out their blog!
There are four requirements for this design team challenge: 1 - create a card/scrapbook layout using the given sketch; 2 - make a 3D item using a template; 3 - write up a blog post showcasing the two projects and 4 link back to the Just Us Girls blogpost to show our entries.
As I just love cupcakes, both in cake form and in image form, I chose to make a little cupcake set. These cute little cupcakes are made with the Hot Off The Press cupcakes template (that I found buried in a box of 12x12 DSP - no idea how long it had been in there!) and are just perfect for holding small little gifts such as jewellery or chocolates. The swirly tops can be undone as they are not glued in anyway and the toppers are just attached to the very top swirl.
This is a close up photo of my card. I attempted a ribbon blossom for the very first time on this card and I do kind of like it, but I think I definately need a bit more practise with making them. I'm not sure I used enough ribbon pieces to be honest.
This is a close up photo of the cupcakes - aren't they just so sweet? There are 2 different types of cupcakes here, but I think I prefer the "swirliness" of the chocolate and pink ones.
Well I hope the Just Us Girls like my entry. There are loads of other fantastic entries, so I know it's going to be difficult for them to choose.
