A Passion For Papertrey Challenge #5

I can't believe how time has flown by since my last post. I went back to work after the holidays, did the maths training for the Teaching Assistants in my school and then was just thrown back into the woes of work again. Holidays are so slow to come around and go by so quickly! At least I get lots of them being a teacher an' all!

Anyways...here's my card for the latest A Passion For Papertrey challenge, which is to make a friendship card. I'm coming to the end of all my different PTI stamp sets so I'm going to have to use some of the same ones again. Another excuse to go buy some more next month huh?!

I wanted to make some sunflowers with this set as I always tend to go for pinks, blues and purples and what a lovely change it makes. This set is perfect for sunflowers too! The strip across the middle was made using the scallop edge punch. I wanted a circles border to keep with the brown centres of the flowers and started with a strip about an inch or so wide. I made sure I lined it up in the same position on both sides of the card and it came out just right first time!

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Bitty Dots Basic Paper Pack from Papertrey Ink

Passion for Papertrey Challenge 4

This fortnight's challenge over on A Passion For Papertrey is to use scallops on your card and to use PTI products somewhere too. I just got this paper yesterday - it's by Bella Blvd and I thought my Wise Owl would look perfect amongst the trees especially as some of the trees have scallops too.

I kept to a more masculine colour scheme as I always find I never have enough of these in my stash of cards.

Recipe

Stamps: Wise Owl by Papertrey Ink

Paper: Non SU/PTI brown, white and reddy-orange cardstock (found it in my stash and it matched the colour of the top left tree really well), DP from Bella Blvd

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black (my new fave ink for colouring with copics), Copic Ciao markers in E35, E37, R05 & YR68, Old Olive from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Old Olive Twill from Stampin' Up (from US mini last year)

Birthday Gift for Stamp With Us Challenge #2

It was my friend Chris' birthday last week (Happy Birthday Chris!!). I was a little stumped as to what to get her as she already has everything she wants (lucky girl!). Luckily for me she has a little interest in card making so I decided to make a little paper/cardstock set for her to use. I used the Filed With Flair Timeless Template from Papertrey Ink to make the file folder, then decorated it with the new Washington Apple Designer Papers from SU.

I then added some packages of different papers and cardstock. Each package had 4 pieces of different DP (I used Washington Apple, Tea Party and Rainbow Sherbet) with 4 card blanks in coordinating colours and 8 pieces of the same coloured cardstock for mounting images etc. Each package was then wrapped in coordinating grosgrain ribbon.

To go with the set I made a joy fold card using the same colours and DP as the file folder and Chris loved the fact that they matched!

I thought I would also enter this in the Stamp With Us challenge #2 seeing as the theme for this challenge was Birthday.

Recipe for File Folder and Joy Fold Card:

Stamps: Sincere Salutations

Papers: Riding Hood Red (US In Colors 09 not available over here unfortunately), Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Washington Apple Designer Papers

Inks: Riding Hood Red

Accessories: Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, Flower Punchies, Bashful Blue brads, Filed with Flair template

Stamp With Us Challenge #1

Over on the Stamp With Us blog run by 3 fellow ILWS stampers, a new challenge has been set with Stampin' Up as the main focus. You don't have to use SU products, but seeing as I'm an SU demo why not use the products (I have to admit I'm using SU so much nowadays that I hardly use anything else anyway especially cardstock and ink wise!)?

Here's the sketch the girls set:

I didn't realise it was supposed to be a square card until I finished it and I didn't have any more time to do any more card making today so it will have to do for now...If I get the time I will attempt another one :P

I'm so loving Cameo Coral at the minute - it's more orangey-pink than the photo shows but is a lovely bright alternative to use.

Recipe:

Stamps: True Friend, Oval All

Papers: So Saffron, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Old Olive and So Saffron Designer Prints

Inks: Cameo Coral ink pad and marker, Old Olive marker

Accessories: Oval punch, So Saffron brad, Old Olive 5/8" grosgrain ribbon.

A Passion For Papertrey Challenge #3

This fortnight's challenge over on the A Passion for Papertrey blog is to make a monochromatic card, i.e. shades of 1 colour plus a neutral. Here's my attempt using an old sketch from SCS that I hadn't done.

Nothing too fancy but simple and pretty!

Recipe

Stamps: Butterfly Kisses and Little Lady from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Berry Sorbet cardstock and Berry Sorbet Bitty Dot Basics Papers both from PTI, Non SU/PTI white cardstock.

Inks: Berry Sorbet from PTI

Accessories: White satin ribbon

My homework won!!

Paula, the UK Country manager for Stampin' Up was asked to judge the 7 cards entered into the homework challenge set by Amanda after our team training session on March 21st. My entry can be found here.

Paula voted for my card and this what she said, "The reason for my choice is that, the design was simple, loved the triple scalloped edge feature and just reminded me of Spring." How honoured I feel for Paula to have chosen my card over the other entries, all of which were lovely too.

I have chosen the En Francais background stamp as my prize as it's one that has been on my wish list for a while now, but I have never gotten round to ordering it.

What a lovely surprise that was yesterday!
