The Paper Shelter Challenge #500 Favourite Past Challenge

Good morning and welcome to my DT post for a very special challenge from The Paper Shelter. Can you believe we have reached our 500th challenge this week! That is definitely an achievement!

My first challenge as part of the DT was for Challenge #152 back in April 2014, so I have been on the team for about 350 challenges! Boy! That does seem a lot, but as I only do the challenge every other week as the teams swap each week, I have completed about 175 of them! Still a lot of challenges! Still loving doing them all the time as well.

Anyway onto my card for this week...I have used the gorgeous Glittery and Sparkling and added some glittery ribbon and glittery star die cuts for Challenge #65 Bling It On.  I coloured the background with lots of brighter colours, but then didn't like how it looked. I went over the background with a blue combo, which muted them colours and I loved how much better the background looks. The character stands out so much more and the background reminds me more of the Northern Lights now!

Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge #194 Anything Goes

Good morning and welcome to my DT post for the new challenge from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. As always our challenge this fortnight is an Anything Goes one and although you don't have to use a stamp from Little Miss Muffet Stamps to enter, we sure do love it when you do!

I used the newly released Polka Dot Pals Kaari for my card and decided to colour her up in a rainbow. Unfortunately I didn't have any rainbow coloured papers in the same colours, but I thought these went well enough to continue the rainbow and sparkle theme!

For once I made a really CAS card (well CAS for me!) as I wanted her to take the centre stage!

Faery Ink Inspiration Post - Top Of The World Maggie

Good afternoon and welcome to my inspiration post for Faery Ink for today. This year on April 22nd it is Earth Day and Amanda asked me to use this gorgeous digi stamp, Top of the World Maggie, to help celebrate it and bring awareness to its cause, which this year focuses on plastic use reduction.

Anyway here's Maggie....I loved this image and she was such fun to colour! I went with a golden blonde hair combo as I wanted her to have a bit of sunlight in her as she is on top of the world!

I had to find a sentiment for her and managed to add several short ones together to create this one and I think it really fits this image!

In The Pink Challenge #63 Cute!

Another easy challenge this fortnight from the In The Pink Challenge blog. This time we are challenging you to use something cute on your card. I used a cute little fairy on mine - Golden Nectar from Hoe Grown Digital @Funky Kits. isn't she just adorable?!

My lovely friend Bettina challenge me to do a more shabby chic style as it a style I love but not one that comes easily to me. I think I have too much OCD to be shabby! I do love how this card came out even if it's not quite shabby chic style - i think the pink is too bright on the petals and ribbon for shabbiness!

The Longest Card Ever!

Oh! My! Goodness! This card took me forever to make and it's not really that fancy either. I decided to dig out my Silhouette Portrait machine after having not used it for absolutely ages and now I remember why I don't bother with it. I officially hate it! It sucks! Big Time! I don't know if I need a new blade, a new mat or just a new machine, but it just does not like me whatsoever! I originally cut the heart frame from pink pearlescent card and used 3 sheets up getting bad cuts! The first one it didn't cut all the way through, the second it moved when it was double cutting, the third attempt it seemed to have moved and cut the edge off on one side although I hadn't move it on the computer at all. I then had to swap to the ivory card and it worked after me holding the card the whole time it was cutting.

And then I moved on to the hearts in the corners - they worked fine first time! Thought I was getting somewhere until I cut the birds out and had to do them 3 times before I got a good cut! What on earth is wrong with this flaming machine. It's only just over a year old but I really wanted to throw it out of the window today! I cleaned the blade, stuck loads of tape round the edge of each piece of card to stop it from moving and it was still rubbish at cutting! Any hints are much appreciated!

Anyway on to the actual card after that rant! I was asked to make a card for my TA at work to give to her son on his wedding day. I was left to choose colours and design but it had to have both of their names on. As it is an Indian wedding, I didn't want to go for a traditional bride and groom as that is not what they are doing (The wedding is in India and sounds fabulous - a horse will be bringing the groom down a rose petal covered street to the temple whilst drummers play on the roadside! Can't wait to see all the photos!)

I'm entering this huge card (It's a 7 3/4" card) into Live & Love Crafts February Challenge #32 Hearts, Creative Fingers Challenge #66 Anything Goes, Creative Knockouts Challenge #75 to use hearts, Through The Craft Room Door's Anything Goes Challenge, Fab 'n' Funky's Challenge #245 to use hearts and/or flowers, Creative Expressions Challenge #299 Love Is In The Air and for The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge Anything Goes (but without the twist this week).

And finally, if you have read all that you probably want to see the actual card!

Recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Alphabet COL1380 from Marianne Design

Papers: Very Vanilla from Stampin' Up, Pink and Ivory pearlescent card from local craft store

Inks: Regal Rose (Retired) from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Vintage Alphabet COL1380 Dies from Marianne Design, Pastel Raspberry & White Opal Liquid Pearls, Die Cuts (Heart frame, Flouished Hearts, Love Birds) all from Silhouette Studio

And that's all from me today folks! I think a 4 hour + card is more than enough! LOL It never takes me that long to make a card and the stupid machine should have been able to do it much quicker than that if just would just work!

A Big Faerie!

I printed out a load of digi stamps at work the other day and didn't really check the size of them. I usually print my Saturated Canary stamps to be 12cm high and this size works for them, but for my La-La Land stamps and my Sherri Baldy ones, this size is just a bit too big, but I'm not one for wasting card (probably should have just reprinted them on the other side of the card but didn't just in case the ink went through or something and only took one pack of Copic cardstock with me to work, so couldn't just redo them). So I now have a pile of fairly large images and whilst I like them this size, it's quite difficult to get them to work on a card without looking too busy.

This card is for La-La Land Crafts Embossing challenge. I kept this reasonably simple, because of the size of my faerie, so I dry embossed my centre panel and added some Shabby Pink frantage to my filigree corner dies to make some butterflies, which I have seen about this week on my blog hopping and they just look fab!

And here she is...

Recipe:

Stamps: Daisy Faerie Marci from La-La Land Crafts, Banners Dies & Every Day Text Stamp Set from Marianne Design Collectables
