Comfy Slippers Fairy

I love all these new fairy images from Saturated Canary and managed to buy some this week and just had to use one for this week's Challenge #51 over on the Saturated Canary challenge blog, which was to use a colouring technique. I chose to use the dotted background technique which I don't think I have ever really used properly. Not sure I have done so this time either, but I do kind of like how it makes my fairy stand out a bit more.

This card is also for Just Add Ink's Challenge #180 to add colouring and for Totally Gorguss' Challenge #199 to use texture. I think with all my glitter and die cut, as well as the dotted background making my image come to the forefront a bit, that there is enough texture without needing to emboss anything! Feels it with all the glitter anyway!

And here it is... Her hair took me absolutely ages to do and my lightest Copic marker ran out just as I had finished the first layer of colour and I don't have a reinker for it, so had to go back over with the next lightest colour and change it all completely! Argh! Must order a few reinkers now!

Pink and Yellow Natural Beauties

This week's Color Throwdown's Challenge #257 was such a pretty combo so I pulled out a 2-step stamping set and used Mojo Monday's Challenge #308 to come up with this flowery card.

Amazing CAS

Not that I think this card is amazing, but for me to manage to do a CAS card as clean and simple as this is just amazing in itself. I really struggled not to add  more to it! This card is for the sketch from SC451 and ColourQ's Challenge #204. I really didn't know what to do with these colours other than more flower cards and I've kind of had enough of them at the minute, so went with this very simple sketch and a touch of reach colour!

And here's my very quick 5 minute card!

Recipe:

Stamps: Express Yourself, Summer Silhouettes both from Stampin' Up

Papers: Lucky Limeade (Retired), Concord Crush (Retired), Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, In Colors 2010-12 DSP Stack (Retired), In Colors 2011-13 DSP Stack (Retired) all from Stampin' Up

Stamp A Faire Challenges Part 2

I only managed to get 4 of these challenges done today and I'm not sure if I'll have any time tomorrow to get any done, but I had fun watching all the videos and adding some of the techniques to my list of to do ideas!

This card is for the Limited Ingredients Challenge in which we were only allowed to use the following items on our cards. We didn't have to use them all but we couldn't add anything else except a neutral coloured ink! The list included ...
  • white cardstock
  • white or transparent glitter(Prisma Glitter)
  • 1-3/4" circle punch or die
  • 1" strip of light gray cardstock (Soft Stone)
  • melon cardstock & ink (Melon Berry)
  • aqua cardstock & ink (Aqua Mist)
  • golden yellow cardstock & ink (Harvest Gold)
And here's my card...

Recipe:

Stamps: Delightful Dahlias, Botanical Silhouettes, Fancy Flourishes all form Papertrey Ink

Papers: Melon Berry, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, Stampers Select White all from Papertrey Ink, sahara Sand from Stampin' Up

Inks: Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold both from Papertrey Ink, Groovy Guava (Retired) from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Fancy Flourishes Dies, Woodgrain Impression Plate both from Papertrey Ink, Diamond Stickles

The last Stamps-A-Faire challenge I managed to do was for the Sweet Sugar Coated Embellishments challenge. I CASEd an old favourite card of mine by Melissa Philips for this one and combined it with CC439 to use Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive, but I used Papertrey Ink colours and use Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold and Ripe Avocado instead!

And here's my card. You can't really see the sentiments in the tags on this one, but I quite like how it came out with all the glittery tags so I don't mind that you can't see them so much!

Recipe:

Stamps: Tiny Tags from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado, Distressed Dots Patterned Papers, Raspberry Fizz Mix Patterned Papers, Stampers Select White all from Papertrey Ink

Inks: Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold both from Papertrey Ink, Old Olive from Stampin' Up, Versamark

Accessories: Raspberry Fizz Ribbon, Raspberry Fizz Buttons, Ripe Avocado Buttons, Tiny Tags Die all from Papertrey Ink, Baker's Twine form Martha Stewart, Heat 'n' Stick Powder, Dazzlin' Diamonds both from Stampin' Up

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp A Faire Challenges Part 1

This weekend Papertrey Ink are having their annual Stamp-A-Faire celebrations, basically a weekend of themed card making challenges and I managed to find the time to do a few of them.

The first challenge was called Breakfast Bake & Take in which you had to choose a colour combo and sketch for your card. I chose these ones...

And here's my card... Definitely need some new Raspberry Fizz and Scarlet Jewel inks. Mine are still the old ones and have all but run out now! Must place a PTI order soon...

Recipe:

Stamps: Rosie Posie, Think Big Favorites #16, Background Basics: Twinkle all from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Raspberry Fizz, Royal Velvet, Stampers Select White all from Papertrey Ink

Inks: Scarlet Jewel, Raspberry Fizz, Lavender Moon all from Papertrey Ink, Concord Crush, Old Olive both from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Rosie Posie Dies from Papertrey Ink

My next card is for the Gallon, Quart, Pint challenge in which we had to choose three colours, making one of them the dominant colour for the gallon, the secondary colour was for the quart and the third colour was the pint which had to have the least amount in the card. I used the sketch from SC450 as well for this one.

And here's my card. I used the red as my gallon, green for the quart and brown for the pint.

Recipe:

Stamps: Heart-2-Heart #10 & 12 both from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Real Red, Chocolate Chip both from Stampin' Up, Pure Poppy Patterned Papers, Simply Chartreuse Patterned Papers, Dark Chocolate Patterned Papers, Stampers Select White all from Papertrey Ink

Inks: Real Red, Chocolate Chip both from Stampin' Up, Simply Chartreuse from Papertrey Ink

My Classroom Notice Board

It will soon be time to go back to school, not just for the kids, but for me too, but I'm lucky, as a teacher I get to go in a few days earlier! I'm going in next week to set up my classroom - print, mount, laminate and put up all my displays, labels trays and new exercise books, organise my cupboards after having moved classrooms, put out all the new pencils and pens in new pots etc etc etc (And they say teachers don't work on their holidays!). It will take me the best part of next week. I can't go in on Monday as it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK, but I will be in every other day next week so that it's all ready from when the children come back on September 4th!

I went to a garden centre the other week to kill some time before a house viewing we were going to and I bought this chalkboard with drawers unit in the sale reduced from £29.99 to £8.99. Bargain I thought but it looked a bit boring and to be honest the paintwork wasn't exactly the best. There were also big splodges of glue where the drawer handles had been stuck on badly! This is what it looked like when I bought it!

And this is what it looks like now! Had to be pink of course with lots of butterflies - both my faves. This will be perfect for my classroom and will match all the tray labels and other odds and ends I have in pink and black all over my room. I just now need to buy a mini paint bucket to go in the tray and fill it with some chalk as I don't want all the chalk dust all in the tray. I'm a bit too OCD for all that mess!

I'm entering this into Fancy and Fussy's Challenge #96 Back To School. Well I don't make Back to School cards or anything as I have no-one to give them to and other teachers wouldn't really appreciate them to be honest! But as I'm taking this back to school with me, I think it fits the challenge perfectly!

Recipe:

Stamps: None

Papers: Basic Black, Pixie Pink (Retired), Night & Day DSP (Retired) all from Stampin' Up

Inks: Chalk Marker from Stampin' Up (Shame this is a permanent pen otherwise it would have been perfect for writing on the actual board!),

Accessories: Basic Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Buttons from Stash, Baker's Twine from Creative Expressions, Isabella Butterfly Die, Pippa Butterfly Die, Darla Butterfly Die all from Memory Box, Swirl Leaves 2 Die from Joy Crafts, Upper Script Alphabet Die, Beautiful Blooms II Dies #1 Collection both from Papertrey Ink, Shabby Raspberry Acrylic Paint from Tim Holtz

And that's all from me today folks! Thanks for stopping by!

And here's my twisted easel card using my new Tilda stamp with new papers, new flourish die and new sentiment stamps from Lili of the Valley!

Purple-y Thank You

This card is for Viva La Verve's Sketch #3 for August and for Color Throwdown's Challenge #256 to use this gorgeous colour combo! I got a little carried away with my Liquid Pearls on this one, but it needed something to jazz it up a bit and my Lavender Lace Liquid Pearls matched perfectly!

And here's my card.

Buzz Lightyear Inspired

When I saw the sketch for Just Add Ink's Challenge #179, I was going to do some grungy splats as were drawn on the sketch, so pulled out my Grunge Me set and went to get my Boy Basics: Skater Dude set to go with it, when I pulled out my Out of This World set which sits next to Skater Dude in my PTI stamps box! I think Buzz Lightyear must have inspired me because as soon as I saw his saying in this set, this card idea immediately sprung to mind and I changed my plan completely!

And here's my card - no idea why my rocket looks glittery when it's been coloured in with Copics (must be because I used Whisper White and not my usual Copic Blending Card) and it looks like that whatever angle I use, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get some better light as it's a bit cloudy here now and I can't get a better picture!

Recipe:

Stamps: Boy Basics: Out of This World from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Daffodil Delight, River Rock (Retired), Whisper White, Brights DSP Stack (Retired), Regals DSP Stack (Retired) all from Stampin' Up

Inks: Not Quite Navy (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers

Accessories: Hung Up Cute Clips, River Rock Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired) both from Stampin' Up, Starry Die from Verve Stamps, Rocket Die from Papertrey Ink

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

A Bright Thank You

As much as I love bright colours, sometimes I can get carried away with them, like I did on this card. On their own, each part looked fine, but once I had finished gluing everything together, I changed my mind about this card. I think the background paper is too busy and distracts from the main elements too much. I might see if I can dismantle it tomorrow and change that paper, but Mr Tombow is a very strong glue so I doubt I'll get anything off!

Anyhow...this card is for Inkspirational's Challenge #34 to use the card below to CASE. I basically took the layout of the card and the idea of the bird for mine. I combined it with the colour challenge CC440 from SCS this week, which is a fun, bright one!

And here it is... I ordered this set in my last SU order and completely forgot to order the matching punch - duh! Guess I need to make another order soon then :P

Recipe:

Stamps: Morning Meadow from Stampin' Up

Papers: Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Quatrefancy Speciality DSP all from Stampin' Up

Inks: Strawberry Slush, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Island Indigo all from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Island Indigo Ribbon (Retired), Bird Punch all from Stampin' Up, Doily from Dovecraft, Gems from stash

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

My Besties Wedding

The other card I managed to get done today was for My Besties Wedding, Puppy Love or Romance Challenge. I don't have any of the actual wedding stamps from My Besties, but I found this cutie, who kind of looks like she's got a wedding dress on with a rose as her bouquet, so I used that one. I pulled out some pretty papers, cut up lots of die cuts and added a bunch of flowers and loved how it came out!  Going to keep this one for my uncle and aunt's wedding in October.

And here she is...

Recipe:

Stamps: IMG382 My Besties Digi stamp from Sherri Baldy, Boxes, Bags & Tags, Tag-Its #5 both from Papertrey Ink

Wednesday or Thursday???

I completely got my days mixed up this week and was totally convinced that today was Wednesday, which was going to be a challenge card making day, whilst Thursday was going to be getting ahead on some of my DT cards. Well, the DT cards didn't get done....

This card is for Lacy Sunshine's Challenge #15 to use a girl image on your card. I only have a few of the Lacy Sunshine images at the minute and this little cutie is just one of those I have printed (I don't have a working printer at home so therefore use the printer at school instead, but school's closed for the summer this week so I can't get in to print any more until I go in next week, when I'll be setting up my classroom ready to go back!)

I just randomly picked some patterned papers and matched my colours to that to come up with this one with Sweet Lil' Bumblebee with Flowers.

Recipe:

Stamps: Sweet Lil' Bumblebee with Flowers Digi Stamp from Lacy Sunshine

Papers: Melon mambo, Island Indigo, Gingham Garden DSP all from Stampin' Up, Copic X-Press It Blending Card

Inks: Copic Markers

Accessories: Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon from Stampin' Up, Beautiful Blooms II Dies #3 from Papertrey Ink, Nottingham Border Die from Memory Box, Buttons from Papermania

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by.
