Just So Cool!

I bought this digi stamp from All Dressed Up a few weeks ago and haven't used her as yet, but she's such a fabulous, funky girl and perfect for that difficult teenage girl who doesn't like girly girl cards. This card is for All Dressed Up's Challenge #16 Anything Goes, Papertake Weekly's Sketch Challenge #91 (I did swap the text box out for a bow as there was already a sentiment with the image) and for Scrapbook Stamp Society's Challenge #44 Anything Goes.

Art by Mi Ran Guest Designer Post #2

Today is another new challenge on the Art by MiRan showcase blog and this is my second post as the guest designer for June. I love the images by Art by MiRan and used Ceridwen for this card. I was having a hunt through the different card bases on the Silhouette studio and saw this gorgeous cut out gatefold with leaves on the front flaps/doors and knew it would be perfect for my Ceridwen card.

This is the card closed. It stays closed with the top right corner just squeezing under one of the cut out pieces. I added lots of punched flowers to imitate those in the image.

And here it is open... You can see the gorgeous "doors" much better one this one.

Thank you so much to Mi Ran and Vicky for inviting me to join you all this month. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with you and feel honoured to have been asked!

Sketch Saturday Challenge #316 with All Dressed Up!

Happy Saturday Sketchers! It's time for another challenge over on the Sketch Saturday Challenge blog and we have a fabulous new sketch and sponsor today!

And the Prize is 2 digital images of the winner choice!

And here is Sketch #316 designed by Cathy:

I have been using All Dressed Up's digis for a little while now and just love them so I was super excited to get to work with them on this sketch! I did take a few creative liberties with it as I had cut all my patterned papers up ready before checking that my image would fit and as usually I had printed her too big, so I had to change the size of my card. I'm not one for wasting paper so a few selective cuts and a bit of rearranging gave me this gorgeous card... It more or less follows the sketch!

The Paper Shelter Challenge #164 Travel and Transportation

It's time for Team B to host a challenge at The Paper Shelter Challenge blog this week and the theme is

Travel and Transportation

We would like to see your cards or projects inspired by a country you have visited or would like to visit or use a travel theme or use some sort of transportation such as a car or aeroplane. The Paper Shelter has heaps of fantastic images for this challenge - you'll be spoilt for choice!

Here are a few ideas to get you started...You could use Snake Charmer for a trip to India, Bon Voyage for a travel theme or My Racing Car for a transportation theme.

I decided to go for a Chinese themed card as I have always wanted to go to China and maybe one day in the far distant future I will get there. For this theme I used the beautiful My Fantasy Pet digi with the matching background paper too.

Lots of gorgeous greens, reddy-oranges and gold on this one. Not  colour combo I would usually choose but I love how it came out! The pearlescent card is really hard to photograph though as it's just so shiny!

Thoughts of You

I've been neglecting my Besties stamps recently for no particular reason, but my DT commitments along with all my school work and university work mean that I have less crafting time at the weekend, so I can't spend as much time on all the challenges I like to do. But I have rectified it this week, but combining 3 different My Besties challenges with this card. Firstly this is for My Besties UK challenge to add a bit of sparkle, My Besties Aussie Challenge #25 to use dry embossing and die cuts, My Besties to use flowers and finally it is for Creative Inspirations Challenge #270 to use a bow.

And here she is...I couldn't decide on colours so I let my boyfriend choose them and I actually quite like this combo even though I probably wouldn't have gone with it myself.

Camellia Spirit

Love the name of this digi! I really like the digis from Aurora Wings and feel they really push me with my colouring. I'm still not as good as I want to be, but I think I'm getting there! This card is for Aurora Wings' Challenge #4 to either use the no lines technique or play the colour bingo! I'm not brave enough to try the no lines technique yet, so went with the bottom row of the bingo board to use pink, white and brown, which also matches Deep Ocean's Challenge #80 to use your favourite colour combo. I'm also entering this card in Fab & Funky's Challenge #221 to make a shaped card and for Crafty Ribbons Challenge #94 to use dotty ribbon!

Tiddly Inks Teacher

In between all my DT cards and some gifts I've been making, I managed to squeeze in a card. This one goes with the gifts, which were a bookmark, covered notepad and a post-it note holder all in a stamped gift bag (which I forgot to photograph!) for my student teacher who finishes in my class next Friday. She has been with us for 5 months now and it is going to feel really strange not having her in and going back to full time teaching is going to be a bit of a shock after all the teaching she has been doing instead of me!

Anyway this card is for Tiddly Inks Challenge #135 to use the sketch below, which worked perfectly for this Teacher digi image! My student has now completed and passed her course and will be teaching her own class in September hence the congratulations!

This card is also for Creative Inspirations Challenge #269 to use bright and bold colours - you can't get much brighter than hot pink and turquoise with a bit of black to balance it out!

Avery Sitting Pretty in her Flower Garden

I really like The Paper Nest Dolls images but it's such a shame you cannot get them over here in the UK...yet! They have, fortunately, a few digis in their Etsy store, which is where I got this cute little girl from. Just wish they would add more to that store (hint, hint LOL).

Anyway this card is for The Paper Nest Dolls Challenge #12 Anything Goes, In The Pink's Challenge #46 Flower Garden, Crafty Ribbons Challenge #93 Anything Goes with ribbon and for Crafting When We Can's Challenge #71 to use up your scraps. I have just a few pieces left of this paper pack now and am down to my last full sheet of the Regal Rose cardstock, which retired from SU a little while ago now. Shame as I love this shade of pink.

Sparkles Star Gazer

After making a couple of bright cards earlier, I thought I would go for a softer colour scheme on this card and whilst looking at images of lilies on the internet for colours, I found some that were both pale pink and pale yellow and used those as my starting point.

This card is for Lacy Sunshine's Challenge to use non-traditional hair colours and for Sketch & Stash's Challenge #141 to use the sketch below. My old stash is the patterned papers and ribbon all of which have been retired for years from Stampin' Up.

And here's my softer card...The nose isn't quite right, but she's still a sweetie!

Eek I'm so excited!

A few weeks ago I received a message from Vicky Fortier through Facebook asking me if I wanted to be a Guest Designer for the Art by Mi Ran Showcase blog. I have to admit after the initial squeals of delight, I took a deep breath and thought about it for... oh just a millisecond. I was gobsmacked that this fabulous group of girls would want little ole me to join them for the month of June, but of course I said yes and this is my first post for them!

I'm also entering this card into Charisma Cardz Challenge #13 Sparkle and Shine - there's plenty of that on here - and into Scrapbook Stamp Society's Challenge #43 Anything Goes.

I got to choose two images for my cards and I think that was the hardest bit as there are just so many fabulous images to choose from. This card uses Ellie's Belly Dance and she is just adorable. Totally fell in love with this one. I went for a teal and silver/grey theme with this one after pulling out some old patterned papers that were just screaming to be used! Hope you like her too!

Recipe:

Stamps: Ellie's Belly Dance from Art by MiRan, Fancy Flourishes, Signature Series: Dressform both from Papertrey Ink
