House of Cards Challenge: Hallowe'en Inspired

As there are 5 Mondays in July this year, House of Cards have a special 5th week challenge for you all. This week we would like you to make a card using the photo below as your inspiration. You can take the colours, patterns, shapes, anything you like from the photo and use any card making style you want to make your creation.

When I first saw this photo I could not get the colours out of my head - orange, black, white, touch of green and gold. The first thing that came into my head was Hallowe'en, but I thought it was way too early for that. However, My Besties are having a monthly challenge this month to use one of their new Besties of Oz images on a card, so I picked Not So Wicked Wendy as one of my prize digis that I won for another challenge and used this gorgeous witch on my card.

And here she is....

Recipe:

Stamps: Not So Wicked Wendy Digi Stamp from Sherri Baldy Designs, Cicely at Halloween, Gracie at Halloween both from Waltzing Mouse Stamps

Papers: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White, Creepy Crawly DSP (Retired) all from Stampin' Up, Black Glitter card, White Glitter Paper, Gold Pearlescent card all from local craft store, Copic X-Press It Blending Card

And that's all from me for this post folks! Hope you can join in with this challenge this week and don't forget to visit all the different card styles DT posts for even more inspiration!

Glamorous Butterfly Princess

Challenge #48 this fortnight on Saturated Canary's blog is called Glamour and Glitz. I knew I had just the right papers for this challenge - The Black Currant Stack from DCWV, which is full of black, ivory, silver and a rich blackcurrant colour and lots of foil papers too - the glitz without the mess! So out that pad came and I added a few embellishments along the way, making my own rolled paper roses for Charisma Cardz Challenge #29

And here's my gorgeous Butterfly Princess. I wanted to add the frantage to act a bit like confetti - no idea why but thought she should be walking through some LOL. I always find that my frantage is so flyaway though, regardless of how far away my heat tool is from the card and I do heat it from underneath. Might have to dig out my old Versamark pen to see if that's any better!

Recipe:

Stamps: Butterfly Princess Digi Stamp from Saturated Canary

Papers: Rich Razzleberry from Stampin' Up, Silver Pearlescent card from local craft store, Copic X-Press It Blending Card, The Black Currant Stack from DCWV

Inks: Copic Markers

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Ice Cream

I missed out a Free For All Challenge a few weeks ago as it involved doing a CAS card, which I don't do very often, but when I saw the Mojo Sketch Challenge #303 this week, I thought it would make a good CAS card layout twisted on its side, so here's my effort for F4A174 to make a summer CAS card.

And here's my card.

Smiles

This week's ColourQ Challenge #199 was a really nice combo that I was really unsure of at first. Dusty Durango was not a colour I particularly liked when it was out, but together with Groovy Guava and Kiwi Kiss and it turned into a nice accent colour. I used the sketch from The Sweet Stop's Challenge #221 as well for this card.

And here's my card.

Hello, Friend

This card is for My Besties UK Challenge to use turquoise, brown and pink (although I used Rose Red which is a very reddy pink, so hope it still counts!), for My Besties Challenge Floral Frenzy (I used a few paper flowers as well as having flowers in my stamped image and on my patterned papers) and for Noor Design's Challenge to create a card using this Sherri Baldy digi stamp designed especially for this month's challenge. I loved her so just had to ask for it to join in the challenge!

And here she is... (Excuse the light tent's ruffles and velcro in the background - I need to buy a bigger one!)

Christmas Already???

I know lots of cardmakers start their Christmas cards in July so they have enough by December (which I really should do to be honest!), but I have so many other occasions to get through before I can even start thinking about Christmas. First my birthday's in July, then end of school year with reports and filling in heaps of data sheets, Summer Holidays, Back to School with a new class, Hallowe'en and then finally I can start doing Christmas cards. Because of all these, I always find it a chore to do a Christmas card so early, but I actually enjoyed doing this one.

This card is for Inkspirational's Challenge #30 for the sketch, Friday MashUp's Challenge #120 to make a Christmas card using stripes, F4A177 to make a Christmas card using summer colours and for Papertake Weekly's Challenge to use dies and/or punches!

And here's it is...

I do have to say that I think this year's in colors are my favourite collection of in colors so far since discovering Stampin' Up when Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi, Groovy Guava and River Rock were the in colors that year (whatever year that was!)

A Big Faerie!

I printed out a load of digi stamps at work the other day and didn't really check the size of them. I usually print my Saturated Canary stamps to be 12cm high and this size works for them, but for my La-La Land stamps and my Sherri Baldy ones, this size is just a bit too big, but I'm not one for wasting card (probably should have just reprinted them on the other side of the card but didn't just in case the ink went through or something and only took one pack of Copic cardstock with me to work, so couldn't just redo them). So I now have a pile of fairly large images and whilst I like them this size, it's quite difficult to get them to work on a card without looking too busy.

This card is for La-La Land Crafts Embossing challenge. I kept this reasonably simple, because of the size of my faerie, so I dry embossed my centre panel and added some Shabby Pink frantage to my filigree corner dies to make some butterflies, which I have seen about this week on my blog hopping and they just look fab!

And here she is...

Recipe:

Stamps: Daisy Faerie Marci from La-La Land Crafts, Banners Dies & Every Day Text Stamp Set from Marianne Design Collectables

Papers: Regal Rose (Retired), Early Espresso, Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Copic X-Press It Blending Card, Vanity Fair Patterned Papers from My Mind's Eye

Inks: Early Espresso from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, Versamark

Accessories: Early Espresso Satin Ribbon (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Paper Roses from Hobbycraft, Filigree Corner Die from La-La Land Crafts, Shabby Pink Frantage Embossing Powder from Stampendous, Large Frilly Frames #5 from Go Kreate, Cotton Candy Stickles, Jules' Jewels Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug

And that's all from me today folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Shameless CASE

This week's challenge on Inkspirational #29 is a CASE challenge and we were asked to CASE this gorgeous card by DT member Ellen. I loved the colours she used and went for a very shameless CASE rather than an inspiration this time, using some old retired DSP that were just the perfect colours and an old stamp set I haven't used in ages!

And here's my card.

Stamps: Butterfly Kisses, Little Lady both from Papertrey Ink

Papers: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Tea and Crumpets DSP (Retired) all from Stampin' Up

This quick card is for The Sweet Stop's Sketch #220 with a twist of adding doilies and for A Passion for Papertrey's Birthday Celebrations challenge. I pulled out my much loved Delightful Doilies set which I actually haven't used in a while and some pretty PTI colours and off I went! Not sure if you can tell in the photo but after I had stamped everything I impressed the layer with my Linen plate, just to give it a little bit of texture.

All Things Magical and Mythical #119 Featuring Mermaid Birthday Party Treasure from Faery Ink

Good morning everyone and welcome to this week's All Things Magical and Mythical post. I haven't used a Faery Ink image for ages so...
