Monday's little notebook

I thought I would have a last full crafting day today seeing as I'm going back into work for the rest of this week to set my classroom up, put up displays, do planning, write the children's names on books etc. and I only got one thing done! It did take me quite a few hours, even though it doesn't look it. I spent ages making decisions and trying things out several times before I was happy. I got to the last bit - sticking on the roses and leaves - and decided to dig out my silicone glue that hasn't been touched for ooh at least 3 years now. I don't like the smell :P I went into my spare room to get out the box with the glue in and as I went to put it away again, I dropped it and tubes of glitter went everywhere popping their lids. So now I have a clear box with a lovely multi-coloured glittery base and a matching carpet! This clearing up must have taken at least 30 minutes out of my crafting time and I didn't get much out of the carpet despite lots of hoovering!!! This is why I don't use loose glitter very often!

Anyway on to my little notebook. This is for Cupcake Craft Challenge #157 to alter something and for Totally Tilda's Challenge #30 Back to School. As a teacher I go through tons of notebooks making notes from meetings, training courses, lists of things that need to be done etc so every September I make myself a new one, nice and clean, all ready for the new school year.

My notebook looked like this... (note the chipped bit on the cover from where I dropped it on a box!)

And now it looks like this...A much better looking notebook don't you think?! And the chipped bit is completely hidden! The flowers on the doily on the top left are attached to a piece of silver elastic cord so I can mark my pages as necessary. I love how this has blended in to the rest of the cover.

VSN Challenges M - P

Last batch of VSN challenges for you. You can see my other posts here and here.

Challenge L was to create a designer card or bag. I made a bag to go with the cards I did for my Papertrey Princess challenge which you can see here. You can read about the bag here.

Challenge M was a colour challenge suing denim blue, brown and ivory and this is what I came up with. I also used SC346 for the layout.

Challenge N was to make a shaker card, which I did a couple of weeks ago now. You can read about it here.

Challenge O was to make a coffee themed card. I don't have any coffee themed stamps at all, but I did find this coffee cup in one of my PTI sets and thought this sentiment worked quite well with it. I also used old CC64C to use Chocolate Chip and Taken With Teal for the colours and old Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #19 for the layout.

Challenge P was to use wood in your card. It could be a wood image, wood embossing or real wood. However you wanted to interpret the challenge really. I used wood grain embossing on mine and used this card from a couple of weeks ago. You can read all about it here.

And that's all for this VSN folks! Thanks for stopping by. And don't forget to go and check out the challenges and join in a few too!

VSN Challenges F - K

Carrying on from my last post for this weekend's VSN over on SCS! These challenges were all posted on Saturday starting at 12pm EST right through to 11pm!

Challenge F was to use kraft and put our signature brand on to a card. I guess my style is pink, ribbon and layers, all of which I have on here! You can read about this card here.

Challenge G was to use your favourite farm animal on a card and I used my WMS set, Back In The Saddle again for this one. I just can't stop brayering skies with the silhouettes of this cowboy on his horse! I used old Taylored Expressions Sketch #3 and old CC99 to use Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy and Take With Teal.

Challenge H was to use the 2 step stamping technique. I combined this challenge with SC347 and Play Date Cafe's challenge #96 to use mint, coral and ivory. I don't have any mint green of any sort so swapped it for Aqua Mist, which is as close as I could get. Quick pic of PDCC's swatch..

And my card...

Challenge I was to include both paper piecing and a bandana print. I have never made a bandana print before but it was good fun. I used old Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #13 and old CC74 to use Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal and Brocade Blue.

Challenge J was to make a tent topper card, which I did for my PTI Blog Hop card and you can read all about it here.

Challenge K was to be inspired by the saloon girls of the Wild Wild West and had to include either red or black lace. I used this card that I made for Waltzing Mouse's Sketch Challenge last week.

And that's all from this post folks! Thanks for stopping by! Just one more post to go for this VSN! Be sure to come back and check it out!

Friday Night's VSN Challenges A - E & Z

It's Virtual Stamp Night again over on SCS with a multitude of challenges all on the theme of the Wild West Rodeo! As a hostess for a challenge (I did a challenge for the mini VSN, a warm up for the big one. You can see all my samples for the mini here), I get to see all the challenges ahead of time, so all of my samples were done and ready in time, so you may have seen some of these cards already as I used them with other challenges that I do. All the details can be found in my SCS here.

Challenge A was to use stitching, either faux or real, so I attempted some real stitching and used a card from a couple of weeks ago. You can read about this card here.

Challenge B was to use the telescoping technique and I used it to make this card from a couple of weeks ago as well. You can read about it here.

Challenge C was to use the faux leather technique. I have never done this one before so this was a real challenge for me. Does this one look a bit like snakeskin leather to you? It's supposed to! I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions Sketch #144 and old colour combo CC116 to use Garden Green, Chocolate Chip and Cool Caribbean, which I subbed with Soft Sky instead. Great combo for a man's card.

Challenge D was to follow use the Texas flag as in an inspiration. I used it as a sketch to come up with this card, which also uses CC87 for the colour combo to use More Mustard, Chocolate Chip and Cool Caribbean which I subbed with Soft Sky as I don't have Cool Caribbean!

Challenge E was to make a gatefold card. I tried to make mine look like saloon doors on the front - what do you think?! This picture shows the outside and inside!

And the final Friday challenge Z was to use twine in one way or another. I used Mojo Monday Challenge #205 for the sketch and CC337 to use Real Red, Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight. Not my favourite combo I've ever done!

And that's all for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come back and check the other VSN challenges I've done.

And my final card for this post is for Cute Card Thursday's Challenge #179 for the sketch, Just Magnolia's Let's Play Bingo challenge (I chose distressing, flowers and paper piecing) and for Magnolia-licious' Inspiration Challenge #10. I used the colours pink and green and the big bow from the photo as my inspiration!

Papertrey Ink's August Blog Hop

It's time for Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop again and this month we were given this photo as an inspiration.

I took the idea of the jar, flowers and damask style background in the case as mine and this is what I came up with. I inked up my impression plate before running it through my Cuttlebug and love the subtle inked up areas! Hope you like it as much as I do!

Recipe:

Stamps: Friendship Jar Summer Fillers, Little Labels

Papers: Regal Rose, Sahara Sand both from Stampin' Up, Stampers Select White from Papertrey Ink

Inks: Sahara Sand, Regal Rose both from Stampin' Up, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Fairytale Ribbons (retired), Linen Thread both from Stampin' Up, Circle Nestabilities, 3D Gloss, from Anita's, Labels 2 Die, Damask Designs Impression Plate both from Papertrey Ink

Thanks for stopping by. I'm off to check out all the other fab cards in blog hop!

Tilda and Butterflies

Just a couple more cards that I made today...

This first one is for Totally Tilda's Challenge # 29 Fit For A Princess which had to include Princess Tilda or the word princess or a crown. Well I was totally stumped as I didn't have Princess Tilda or a crown stamp that I could use or the word princess anywhere I could find, so what did I do?! I went shopping hehe! My lovely new Princess Tilda (along with Skateboard Tilda, Ballerina Tilda, 3 packs of 6 x 6 patterned papers and some Card Candi) was delivered yesterday, so I got straight onto this challenge this morning! I used old Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #96 for the layout and the colours from Color Throwdown's Challenge #156 to use So Saffron, Perfect Plum and Crumb Cake.

Recipe:

Stamps: Princess Tilda from Magnolia

Papers: So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Perfect Plum all from Stampin' Up, Copics White, Echo Park Springtime Patterned Paper pack (not one of my new ones)

Inks: Crumb Cake, Perfect Plum both  from Stampin' Up, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Doily from eBay, Fairytale Ribbons (retired) from Stampin' Up, Sentiment panel from old preprinted sheet found in my stash, Big rose from Magnolia, Small yellow and purple roses from eBay

And my next card is for Make It Monday's Challenge #29 to use freestyle copic colouring, old CC52G to use Lavender Lace, Taken With Teal, Almost Amethyst, Pumpkin Pie and Bravo Burgundy (not my fave combo ever I must say but it turned out ok on this one I think!) and old Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #29 and I'm going to enter this one in to A Passion for Papertrey's Anything Goes Challenge as well.  I have to say I find colouring out of the lines really hard to do as I like everything to be neat so I came up with the idea of multicoloured butterflies and thought I would randomly colour over a piece of card and stamp the butterflies on top. This is what my coloured sheet looked like before I stamped the butterflies on it. Just random squiggles of Copics all over.

And this is the card in the end. Quite a plain card for me really but I wanted the coloured background to be the main focus. You can't tell in the picture but the Taken With Teal layer is popped up on dimensionals to give that little bit of extra depth to it.

Recipe:

Stamps: Butterfly Dreams from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Almost Amethyst, Taken With Teal both retired from Stampin' Up, Copics White

Inks: Basic Black from Stampin' Up, Copics

Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Icicle Stickles

And that's all from me today folks! Get ready for the VSN over on SCS this weekend as well.

Ice Cream Inspiration

I've just found a new challenge blog (well new to me anyway) thanks to the lovely Holly from Stampin' Royalty called The Friday Mashup! I had a good long browse through all their old challenges and they really are fantastic challenges! Nothing too restrictive at all, which I love as it means you can interpret the challenges in so many different ways.

They are currently holding a fan favorite challenge in which you have to post a challenge for them in the hopes that it is picked as the winning entry and then is put on on the Friday Mashup blog for everyone to enter. So anyway here's mine...

My Mashup Challenge would be to:

1. Create a project using a shade of pink.
2. Create a project using some sort of food.
3. Or "MASH IT UP!" and create a project using a shade of pink AND some sort of food!

And as you al know I love mixing up my challenges so this card is also for A Passion for Papertrey's Anything Goes Challenge, Papertake Weekly's Challenge to use die cuts, old Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #21 for the sketch and for Papertrey Princess Mariah's Challenge, who asked where we get our inspiration from. Now don't laugh at this one.

My boyfriend was watching A Diary of A Wimpy Kid the other night, while I was reading my Kindle (I was reading The Mage in Black by Jaye Wells - very good book, go check it out!). I just happened to look up at one scene and the main character's friend Rowley and his new friend were eating the hugest ice creams I have ever seen. The cones were ginormous and filled to the top with yummy ice cream and sauces and cream and oh I wanted one right there and then! Unfortunately we didn't have any cones in the house, nor cream, nor ice cream sauces and only a little bit of Ben & Jerry Cookie Dough left so I didn't bother. But I've been thinking about that ice cream ever since LMAO! I decided to turn that thought into a card this morning as I still hadn't used my new Sweet As You Can set that arrived a couple of weeks ago! Now what I wouldn't do to eat one of those right now!

Recipe:

Stamps: Sweet As Can Be from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Sweet Blush, Stampers Select White, Happy Spots Patterned Paper all from Papertrey Ink, Chocolate Chip from Stampin' Up

Inks: Chocolate Chip, Blushing Bride both from Stampin' Up

Accessories: Sweet As Can Be Die, Fruit Fusion: Cherries Die, Pure Poppy Felt, Dark Chocolate Felt all from Papertrey Ink, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon (retired at the minute in the UK) from Stampin' Up, Oval Nestabilities, Doily from eBay, Pink glitter felt from Hobbycraft, Pastel Raspberry Liquid Pearls, Buttons from Elzybells, Pink Baker's Twine from The Ribbon Reel

And that's all from this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Sharing on a Sunday yet again

Just 2 cards I can share with you today as the others I made are for the Virtual Stamp Night, which is coming up on Splitcoast Stampers next weekend.

This first one is for Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge #61. I just love using these doilies and they are just stunning in black and red, don't you think?!

And my next card is for Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #85 for the sketch. Gotta love all the pink on this one! And thanks to Holly from Stampin' Royalty who told me to enter this card in The Friday Mash Up Challenge #20 which is to use buttons, or cupcakes or both! Well I have both, so I'm gonna go enter!

A Few More Random Cards

This first one is for CR84FN36 to use yellow, kraft and neutral and for old Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #16 for the sketch. This is the swatch from CR84FN...

I had this burning desires to use my new little seashells and this is what I came up with...

My next card is for Cute Card Thursday's Challenge #178 to make a wedding card, old CC05 to use black and white (not quite sure how I missed this one!), Free For All Challenge #78 to use an embossing folder as a focal point and SC345 for the sketch. I just could not get my embossing folder to ink up and emboss properly without it smearing black ink everywhere where I didn't want it so after the 3rd attempt I dug out my blender pens and painted the embossed parts with my Basic Black ink and I love how it came out!

Some more pink cards

We had a fantastically busy time in Chester this week (bought lots of lovely things too, but no crafting stuff), but I was definitely having crafting withdrawal symptoms by the end of our visit. So guess what I did today? Made up for it that's for sure!

This first card is for Viva La Verve's Sketch #3 for August, Free for All's Challenge #77 to make a frame and Just Magnolia's Challenge #120 to use funny sentiments. I thought this little sentiment from Everyday Button Bits by PTI was a perfect fit for Tilda with her kite!

Recipe:

Stamps: Tilda With Kite from Magnolia, Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Soft Sky (retired), Regal Rose both from Stampin' Up, Copics White, Tilda Flowergarden DSP

Inks: Regal Rose from Stampin' Up, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities, Doily and Paper Roses all from eBay

My next card is for Viva La Verve's Sketch #4 for August, CC336 to use Blushing Bride, Wisteria Wonder (which I subbed with Lovely Lilac as we don't have that in color over here yet! GRRR!) and Make It Monday's Challenge #28 to use glitter die borders. I completely copied Erin and used one of my new Half & Half dies for this one as it fitted the sketch perfectly!

Recipe:

Stamps: Fancy Flourishes, Butterfly Kisses, Half & Half all from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Sahara Sand cs and DSP from Neutrals stack, Lovely Lilac (retired), Blushing Bride all from Stampin' Up, Stampers Select White from Papertrey Ink

My next card is for Paper Pal Arts Challenge #107 for the sketch and Color Throwdown's Challenge #155 to use Early Espresso, Barely Banana, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss. What a gorgeous combo this one was - definitely one to keep for later!

Recipe:

Stamps: Growing Green from Stampin' Up

Papers: Barely Banana (retired), Early Espresso, Raspberry Tart DSP (retired) all from Stampin' Up, Copics White

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punch

And my final pink card is for Cupcake Craft Challenges for the sketch, Farm Fresh Friday's Button It Up ChallengePapertake Weekly's Eyes Down, Look In Challenge (I used Ribbon, Buttons and had a free slot so used glitter) and Play Date Café's Challenge #95 to use Navy, Bubblegum and Leaf Green. I thought I would have a go at a Betsy Veldman-esque style background by lining my flowers up on top of each other and love how they came out!

This is the colour swatch from PDCC#95.

And here's my take on it...

Recipe:

Stamps: Hats Off from The Greeting Farm, Make A Wish, Flower Fusion #5 both from Papertrey Ink

Papers: Blushing Bride, Green Galore (retired) both from Stampin' Up, Copics White

And that's all from me for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Flowery Cards and a Star!

Just a few more cards I did this week...

This first one is a new technique for me - the telescoping card. I love this technique and will definitely be using it again. I used the colours from Color Throwdown's Challenge #154 - Old Olive, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray.

Recipe:

Stamps: Year of Flowers: Marigolds, Big & Bold Wishes both from PTI

Papers: Basic Gray, So Saffron both from SU, Stampers Select White from PTI

Inks: Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Old Olive all from SU, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon (retired) from SU, Circle Nestabilities, Gold heart brads from stash

My next card is for Waltzing Mouse's Sketch Challenge #60 and old CC76 to use More Mustard, Bordering Blue and Old Olive. I wanted some solid flowers to stamp my main panel with but I don't have any WMS ones so I used one of the doily stamps from Large Doily which I thought kind of looked like a flower. What do you think?!

Recipe:

Stamps: Large Doily, Frame It, Say It With Style all from Waltzing Mouse Stamps

Papers: Bordering Blue (retired), More Mustard, Whisper White all from SU

Inks: Bordering Blue (retired), More Mustard, Old Olive all from SU

Accessories: Labels 4 Nestabilities, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug, More Mustard Ribbon (retired) from SU, Clear Gems from stash

My last flowery card is for Just Add Ink's Challenge #180 for the sketch and old CC89 to use Bashful Blue, Cranberry Crisp (subbed with Purely Pomegranate) and Old Olive.

Recipe:

Stamps: Four of A Kind, Around and About Sentiments both from PTI

Papers: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate (retired), Whisper White all from SU

Inks: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate (retired), Bashful Blue all from SU

Accessories: Bashful Blue buttons (retired) from SU, Green Baker's Twine from Martha Stewart

And my final card doesn't fit with any of the others I made this week, so it's just a bit random in this post to be honest! This one is for A Passion for Papertrey's For the Boys Challenge and Colour Create's Challenge #77 to use blue, green, red, white and brown. Definitely a boys' colour combo there! I decided to spruce it up a bit and make a shaker card and I spritzed my Cherry Cobbler layer with some Smooch to give it a bit more of a shimmer as well. I love how this one came out!

Recipe:

Stamps: Star Prints, Birthday Bash Sentiments both from PTI

Papers: Brilliant Blue (retired), Cherry Cobbler both from SU, Stampers Select White from PTI

Inks: Old Olive, Soft Suede, Brilliant Blue (retired), Cherry Cobbler all from SU

Accessories: Cherry Cobbler Button, Baja Breeze Chunky Glitter, Linen Thread all from SU, Star dies from PTI, Red sequins from stash, Acetate from stash, Cherry Ice Smooch Spritz

And that's all from me today folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Taken with Temptation

Hehe what a daft title I came up with there. All of these cards use either Taken with Teal (retired SU colour) or Tempting Turquoise. I actually really like both of these colours, but don't tend to go for them very often. Not sure why!

Anyway this first card is for Play Date Cafe's Challenge #94 to use fudge (Chocolate Chip), Goldenrod (reminds me of a name for a racing car, but I used Crushed Curry) and Teal (yep got that one!). I used old Taylored Expression Cupcake Challenge #7 for the sketch and am also entering it into Cupcake Craft's Challenge #154 Sew Mad (yes I did hand-stitch all those crosses and boy did it take forever!) and Cute Card Thursday's Challenge #177 to make a clean and simple card. This is as clean and simple as I can go! Here's the swatch for Play Date Cafe's Challenge...

And here's my take on it...

Recipe:

Stamps: Piece of Cake, Think Big Favorites #1 both from PTI

Papers: Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal (retired), Crushed Curry (retired), Whisper White all from SU

Inks: Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal (retired), Crushed Curry (retired)

Accessories: Icicle Stickles, Brown Embroidery Thread from stash, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug

My next card is for Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #84 which was an inspiration challenge using this photo. I also used old Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #120. I used the bird, colours and all the white wooden window frames for my inspiration.

And here's my take on it...

Recipe:

Stamps: Iconic Images from PTI

Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi both from SU, Stampers Select White from PTI

Inks: Tempting Turquoise ink and marker, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip marker, Soft Suede marker, Creamy Caramel (retired) all from SU

Accessories: Woodgrain Embossing Folder from Craft Concepts, Tempting Turquoise Ribbon (retired in the UK at the minute) from SU, Square Nestabilities

And my final project  is a little tote bag to go with the cards I made for my Hot or Cold PTI Princess Challenge that I did the other week. I'm entering this one into Papertake Weekly's Challenge Grow Your Own to include some handmade flowers. Mine are made from some of PTI's luscious felt!

Recipe:

Stamps: Mehndi Medallion, Half and Half both from PTI

Papers: Whisper White Textured from SU, Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist both from PTI

Inks: Ocean Tides, Hawaiian Shores both from PTI, Soft Sky (retired) from SU

Accessories: Half and Half die, Aqua Mist Grosgrain Ribbon, Ocean Tides Saddle Stitched Ribbon, Ocean Tides Felt, Hawaiian Shores Felt, Aqua Mist Buttons all from PTI, Silver Gelly Roll Pen (can't find my white gel pen anywhere!), Round Tab Punch from SU, Pearl Brads from Papermania,

And that's all for this post folks! Thanks for stopping by!

Scene It Sunday #180 Featuring Fore You from Di's Digi Stamps

Good morning and welcome to this week's Scene It Sunday. This week I have used this cute golfing mice image from Di's Digi Stamps, ...
