#mermay Challenge 30 - Celebrations

Hello and welcome to today's #mermay challenge post! I actually managed to post this one on the actual day - a first this month! I really wasn't expecting this whole month long challenge to be this much hard work. Whilst I have really enjoyed all the extra colouring, the actual card making became more of a challenge and the constant refilling of my Copics is a chore as well! If I do it again next year, I will definitely plan it ahead of time!  Anyway today's challenge is all about celebrations, so I used this gorgeous image from Faery Ink from the Mermaid Birthday Party bundle, called Mermaid Kisses. Isn't she just adorable in her shell holding up a birthday cupcake?! I kept the card fairly simple (more for time reasons than anything else) and just added a few shell die cuts to each corner, but I do love how she came out!  This card is for Sweet Stampin' Challenge Cute Creative Fingers Challenge #187 Anything Goes Crafty Catz Challenge #508 Anything Goes Colour Craz

LeAnn's World 101 Inspiration Post - Mermaid Tea

Good morning everyone and welcome to my inspiration post for LeAnn's World 101. As it is #mermay month this month, it was only fitting that I had to use one of LeAnn's mermaid digi stamps! This gorgeous mermaid is called Mermaid Tea . I went for lots of bright colours on this one and then had a really hard time deciding what to do with her! In the end I went with a shaped card and added a few die cuts to it.  Recipe: Stamps: Mermaid Tea from LeAnn's World 101 Papers: Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Crisp Cantaloupe (Retired) & Wild Wasabi (Retired) all from Stampin' Up, Rainbow Magic Patterned Papers from Hobbycraft, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Copic Markers Accessories: Daffodil Delight Ribbon (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Shape Art Label 2 Template from Dutch Doobadoo, Diamond Stickles, Under The Sea Edge Die 6002/0330 & Bubbles & Seaweed Dies 6002/0496 both from Joy Crafts, Seashells & Seaweed Dies from Sweet Dixie Cop

#mermay Challenge 27 - Chilling

Hello everyone! today's mermaid challenge is called Chilling, so I have used this gorgeous image Coral from Ching-Chou Kuik, who definitely looks like she's chilling amongst all the coral and plants on the sea floor!  I went for a very bright colour combo on this one and tried to use some of my scraps up on this one! I decided to go for an ombre hair colour combo as well on this one and I really like how it came out.  Recipe: Stamps: Coral from Ching-Chou Kuik, Mermaid Dreams from Whimsy Stamps Papers: Crushed Curry & Melon Mambo both from Stampin' Up, Under The Sea Patterned Papers from Doodlebug, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Crushed Curry from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers Accessories: Gems from Poundland Copics Used: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R30, R20 Hair - RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14, RV17, RV19 Eyes - 100, BG05, BG07 Lips - RV95, RV99 Top - Y35, Y38, RV19 Tail - RV00, RV02, RV04, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06 Sea - B000, B00, B01, B02, B04 Bubbl

#mermay Challenge 26 - Other Sealife Creatures

Hello everyone! Today's #mermay challenge is to use other sealife creatures, so any animal that has not already featured on my list!  I guess strictly speaking otters are more river creatures than sea life, but I love these cuties with their mermaid friend, so that's what I'm using! This image is another of Sweet November Stamps mermaids - Shimmer Redkelp and Otto the otter.  I inked the background up first and then cur lots of vellum waves and added them to the top, gluing the edges round the back of the inked card. Love the effect the vellum has given to this image.  Recipe: Stamps:  Shimmer Redkelp and Otto from Sweet November Stamps, Little Darling Mermaid from Your Next Stamp Papers:  Sweet Sugarplum (Retired), Coastal Cabana & Very Vanilla all from Stampin' Up, Under The Sea Patterned Papers from Doodlebug, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty, White Vellum from Anita's  Inks:  Sweet Sugarplum (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Tumbled Glass, Brok

#mermay Challenge 25 - Daydreaming

Hello everyone! I'm back again with another of my #mermay challenge cards. I had a monster session today, making up several of the images that I have coloured into cards, but I still have loads more to go, so will be playing catch up for ages I think! Today's challenge is daydreaming, so I used this gorgeous scene from Lacy Sunshine/Colour of Love. I'm not sure when Heather Valentin changed the name of her store or when I got this image, but I have had it a while.  This image took me ages to colour and nearly all my blues and blue-greens for the sea ran out, so lots of blending was needed to get it looking a bit smoother and not as sticky!  Recipe: Stamps: Rory's Magical Under The Sea Kingdom from Lacy Sunshine/Colour of Love, Under The Sea Sentiment Set from Stamping Bella Papers: Daffodil Delight & Bermuda Bay both from Stampin' Up, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Daffodil Delight from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers Accessories: Crysta

#mermay Challenge 23 - Cave

Hello everyone and welcome to today's #mermay challenge post. Today's challenge is to include a cave in my mermaid project, so I used some digi stamps from Sweet November to create this underwater scene with the cute mermaid visiting her little eel friend in his cave!  To create this scene, I used Word to arrange my digis from Sweet November Stamps - Siren Seafoam and Elektra, Ocean Background 1 and Ocean Background 2 sets. It did take a while to colour, but I love how it came out!  Recipe: Stamps: Siren Seagfoam and Elektra, Ocean Background 1 & Ocean Background 2 all from Sweet November Stamps, Swimming By To Say Hi from Time For Tea Designs Papers: Melon Berry & Royal Velvet both from Papertrey Ink, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Copic Markers, White Gel Pen Copics Used: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R30, R20 Hair - E50, E51, E41, E42, E43, E55 Leaves in Hair - YG13, YG17 Eyes - G43, G46 Eyebrows - E55 Lips, Top & Trim - RV10, RV32, RV

Faery Ink Inspiration Post Featuring Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom Mermaid

Good morning and welcome to my inspiration post for Faery Ink. As the month of May is also known as #mermay and Amanda is a huge fan of mermaids, it was only natural that this month's new releases at Faery Ink wer all mermaids! I got to play with this gorgeous mermaid - Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom, sitting on her cake, ready to share in someone's birthday celebrations!  I used my new Dutch Doobadoo Stepper Label stencil for this one and I think I did it right! It's so hard to "see" it sometimes and there's never a video about when I need one! I do wish they would create a construction video or step by step tutorial when they bring out a new stencil as sometimes I find it hard to visualise what I am supposed to be doing!  Anyway.... here she is. And here's a close up of her, so you can see that beautiful smile a bit better!  Recipe: Stamps: Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom Mermaid from Faery Ink Papers: Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mam

This one from Make It Crafty, who are no more, was just perfect for this challenge!  I went for a two-toned hair combo on this one and I love these colours together and paired with the lime green tail, I just LOVE it all!  Recipe: Stamps: Viviane from Make It Crafty Papers: Lemon Lime Twist (Retired) & Gorgeous Grape both from Stampin' Up, Let's Be Mermaids Patterned Papers from Echo Park, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Copic markers Accessories: Purple Rain Glitter Drops from Nuvo Copics Used: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R30, R20 Hair - BG01, BG02, BG05, BG07, BG09, V12, V15, V17, V09 Eyes - B24, B26 Eyebrows - BV29 Lips - V12, V15, V17 Tail - YG0000, YG00, YG01, YG03, YG05, YG06, YG09 Top - V01, V04, V06 And that's all from me for this post folks! #mermay Challenge 20 - Sitting On A Rock

Good morning and welcome to today's #mermay challenge, which is to have a mermaid sitting on a rock. Pretty easy right?!  I used this adorable stamp from Your Next Stamp, which has been in my stash for years, but completely unused! This #mermay challenge has definitely made me pull out some stamps that I have never used before! You can tell I was getting a bit tired with my card making here as this is a very simple (for me) card!  Recipe: Stamps: Little Darling Mermaid from your Next Stamp Papers: Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape & Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Let's Be Mermaids Patterned Papers from Echo Park, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Coastal Cabana from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, White Gel Pen, Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen Accessories: Gorgeous Grape Ribbon from Stampin' Up,  Copics Used: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R30, R20 Hair - Y21, Y23, Y26 Top & Tail - V12, V15, V17, V09 Pearls - V12 Sea - BG11, BG01, BG02, BG05,

The Paper Shelter Challenge #428 - In Nature/In Water

Good morning and welcome to my DT post for the new challenge from The Paper Shelter. This week our challenge is for you to create a project using an image in nature or in water - ideal for doing Mermay!  I actually decided not to do a mermaid themed card as I wanted a break from doing all my mermay challenges (which I am colouring most days, but don't really get time to craft during the week, even when working from home as I am stuck in front of a computer screen all day!) I went with the adorable, newly released The Queen Bee  instead - isn't she just a sweetie?!  Recipe: Stamps: The Queen Bee from The Paper Shelter, Bee-Cause from C.C.Designs Papers: Perfect Plum (Retired) & Basic Black both from Stampin' Up, Beelightful Patterned Papers from Nitwit Collections, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Gorgeous Grape from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, Pearlescent Chalks from Pebbles Inc., Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen Accessories: Gorgeous Grape Ribbon fr

#mermay Challenge 19 Dolphin

Good morning and welcome to my #mermay challenge post. today's challenge was to use a dolphin with my mermaid. I absolutely love dolphins and would love to see with them in the sea one day - it's definitely on my bucket list of things to do once this pandemic is well and truly over!  I found this set of digi stamps on etsy while hunting for some new ones to play with and Pretty Grafik, at the time, had a great sale, so I picked up loads of different sets to play with including this mermaids one. I created the scene with my Distress Oxides inks and various seaweed die cuts. Recipe: Stamps: Mermaids from Pretty Grafik, Say It In Style from Clearly Besotted Papers: Gumball Green (Retired), Perfect Plum (Retired), Summer Starfruit (Retired), lemon Lime Twist (Retired) & Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Let's Be Mermaids Patterned Papers from Echo Park, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Elegant Eggplant (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Peacock Feat

#mermay Challenge 18 - Swimming Fun

Good morning and welcome to my 18th challenge for this year's #mermay challenges that I have set myself for the whole month of May! Today's challenge was swimming fun, so I pulled this cute set out that I have had for ages but never used for this card!  I used my Distress Ink Oxides for the sea and added some glittery bubbles here and there. Don't they look like they are having lots of fun in their rubber rings and armbands! Mermaids in training!  Recipe: Stamps: Mermaid For each Other from My Favorite Things Papers: Soft Sky (Retired), Berry Burst (Retired), Crushed Curry & Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Card Blank from Anita's, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Pacific Point & Crushed Curry both from Stampin' Up, Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon & Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks all from Tim Holtz, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Crystal Clear Sparkle Pen from Spectrum Noir, White Gel Pen Accessories: Blue Lagoon Glitter

#mermay Challenge 17 - Merlove

Good morning and welcome to today;s #mermay challenge post. Today I picked Merlove for the challenge after getting these gorgeous images fro Sweet November Stamps and seeing Amy Young create a similar scene. I love the way Amy colours and want to be able to do the things she seems to find so easy! It's never that easy for me!  My sea didn't come out as well as I had hoped. By this stage of my colouring marathon, a lot of my Copics were running out or getting sticky, so I needed to do lots of blending here. I find that if I clean them halfway through my colouring, the colour changes slightly and looks even worse! But a bit of perseverance and lots of patience and it came out looking ok I think!  Recipe: Stamps: Mertot Finn & February Mertot both from Sweet November Stamps, Mermaid For You from Lawn Fawn Papers: Real Red, Whisper White & Pacific Point all from Stampin' Up, Pretty Red Classics Patterned Papers from Make & Create @The Works, Make It Colour Blending

#mermay Challenge 16 - Pearls

Good morning and welcome to my #mermay challenge post for today! Today's challenge is to use pearls so I used this gorgeous mermaid digi stamp from Tiddly Inks and a perfect sentiment from Whimsy Stamps to go with her!  I went for a pink colour combo for this mermaid - I do love my pinks, but haven't done a whole pink image for ages! Recipe: Stamps: Pearl's Birthday from Tiddly Inks, Seashells by the Seashore from Whimsy Stamps Papers: Blushing Bride, Raspberry Ripple (Retired) & Whisper White all from Stampin' Up, Under The Sea Patterned Papers from The Range, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Blushing Bride from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers Accessories: Raspberry Ripple Ribbon (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Rhubarb Crumble Crystal Drops & Fairy Wings Dream Drops both from Nuvo, Seashore Elements Dies from Whimsy Stamps Copics Used: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R30, R20 Hair - RV10, RV11, RV32, RV34, R89 Top - RV10, RV11, RV13 Tail

#mermay Challwnge #15 - Disney Inspired

Hello everyone and welcome to today's (belated) #mermay challenge post. Today I have set myself the challenge of creating as Disney Inspired mermaid project and we all know the best Disney mermaid has to be the gorgeous Ariel!  I used this adorable digi stamp from The Paper Nest Dolls and coloured her up to look just like Ariel. Isn't she just the cutest?! I also added the perfect sentiment stamp - a quote from Ariel - from the Under The Sea Sentiment Set from Stamping Bella. I love their sentiment stamps as they include so many useful ones in their sets, not like others where 1 or 2 are a bit naff!  Recipe: Stamps: Mermaid Princess from The Paper Nest Dolls, Under The Sea Sentiment Set from Stamping Bella Papers: Daffodil Delight & Bermuda Bay both from Stampin' Up, Under The Sea Patterned Papers from Doodlebug, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Daffodil Delight from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, White Pencil Crayon Accessories: Gems from Poundl

#Mermay Challenge 14 - Turtle

Belated hello and welcome to my 14th #mermay challenge, which is to include turtles on my project. I used this gorgeous image from Wee Stamps, which may be available from Whimsy Stamps as a digi stamp. I bought all of my Wee Stamps images when their own store was open, but it has since closed down and some of the digis are not available through Whimsy Stamps' website instead.  I have a thing for yellow and aqua together at the minute; I think it must be all that sand and sea I keep colouring! I do love this combo though, but I am very limited on patterned papers in these colours.  Recipe: Stamps: Shelley from Wee Stamps, Cool Dude from Clearly Besotted Papers: Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay & Eastern Elegance DSP (Retired) all from Stampin' Up, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty Inks: Crushed Curry from Stampin' Up, Copic markers Accessories: Crushed Curry Ribbon (Retired) from Stampin' Up, Caribbean Ocean Crystal Drops from Nuvo Copics Used: Skin - E000,
