#mermay Challenge 30 - Celebrations

Hello and welcome to today's #mermay challenge post! I actually managed to post this one on the actual day - a first this month! I really wasn't expecting this whole month long challenge to be this much hard work. Whilst I have really enjoyed all the extra colouring, the actual card making became more of a challenge and the constant refilling of my Copics is a chore as well! If I do it again next year, I will definitely plan it ahead of time!

Anyway today's challenge is all about celebrations, so I used this gorgeous image from Faery Ink from the Mermaid Birthday Party bundle, called Mermaid Kisses. Isn't she just adorable in her shell holding up a birthday cupcake?! I kept the card fairly simple (more for time reasons than anything else) and just added a few shell die cuts to each corner, but I do love how she came out!

#mermay Challenge 26 - Other Sealife Creatures

Hello everyone! Today's #mermay challenge is to use other sealife creatures, so any animal that has not already featured on my list!

I guess strictly speaking otters are more river creatures than sea life, but I love these cuties with their mermaid friend, so that's what I'm using! This image is another of Sweet November Stamps mermaids - Shimmer Redkelp and Otto the otter.

I inked the background up first and then cur lots of vellum waves and added them to the top, gluing the edges round the back of the inked card. Love the effect the vellum has given to this image.

#mermay Challenge 25 - Daydreaming

Hello everyone! I'm back again with another of my #mermay challenge cards. I had a monster session today, making up several of the images that I have coloured into cards, but I still have loads more to go, so will be playing catch up for ages I think! Today's challenge is daydreaming, so I used this gorgeous scene from Lacy Sunshine/Colour of Love. I'm not sure when Heather Valentin changed the name of her store or when I got this image, but I have had it a while.

This image took me ages to colour and nearly all my blues and blue-greens for the sea ran out, so lots of blending was needed to get it looking a bit smoother and not as sticky!

Faery Ink Inspiration Post Featuring Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom Mermaid

Good morning and welcome to my inspiration post for Faery Ink. As the month of May is also known as #mermay and Amanda is a huge fan of mermaids, it was only natural that this month's new releases at Faery Ink wer all mermaids!

I got to play with this gorgeous mermaid - Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom, sitting on her cake, ready to share in someone's birthday celebrations!

I used my new Dutch Doobadoo Stepper Label stencil for this one and I think I did it right! It's so hard to "see" it sometimes and there's never a video about when I need one! I do wish they would create a construction video or step by step tutorial when they bring out a new stencil as sometimes I find it hard to visualise what I am supposed to be doing!

Anyway.... here she is.

And here's a close up of her, so you can see that beautiful smile a bit better!

Recipe:

Stamps: Birthday Cupcake Appleblossom Mermaid from Faery Ink

I went with the adorable, newly released The Queen Bee instead - isn't she just a sweetie?!

#mermay Challenge 17 - Merlove

Good morning and welcome to today;s #mermay challenge post. Today I picked Merlove for the challenge after getting these gorgeous images fro Sweet November Stamps and seeing Amy Young create a similar scene. I love the way Amy colours and want to be able to do the things she seems to find so easy! It's never that easy for me!

My sea didn't come out as well as I had hoped. By this stage of my colouring marathon, a lot of my Copics were running out or getting sticky, so I needed to do lots of blending here. I find that if I clean them halfway through my colouring, the colour changes slightly and looks even worse! But a bit of perseverance and lots of patience and it came out looking ok I think!

Recipe:

Stamps: Mertot Finn & February Mertot both from Sweet November Stamps, Mermaid For You from Lawn Fawn

Papers: Real Red, Whisper White & Pacific Point all from Stampin' Up, Pretty Red Classics Patterned Papers from Make & Create @The Works, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty

#mermay Challwnge #15 - Disney Inspired

Hello everyone and welcome to today's (belated) #mermay challenge post. Today I have set myself the challenge of creating as Disney Inspired mermaid project and we all know the best Disney mermaid has to be the gorgeous Ariel!

I used this adorable digi stamp from The Paper Nest Dolls and coloured her up to look just like Ariel. Isn't she just the cutest?! I also added the perfect sentiment stamp - a quote from Ariel - from the Under The Sea Sentiment Set from Stamping Bella. I love their sentiment stamps as they include so many useful ones in their sets, not like others where 1 or 2 are a bit naff!

Recipe:

Stamps: Mermaid Princess from The Paper Nest Dolls, Under The Sea Sentiment Set from Stamping Bella

Papers: Daffodil Delight & Bermuda Bay both from Stampin' Up, Under The Sea Patterned Papers from Doodlebug, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty

Inks: Daffodil Delight from Stampin' Up, Copic Markers, White Pencil Crayon

#Mermay Challenge 14 - Turtle

Belated hello and welcome to my 14th #mermay challenge, which is to include turtles on my project. I used this gorgeous image from Wee Stamps, which may be available from Whimsy Stamps as a digi stamp. I bought all of my Wee Stamps images when their own store was open, but it has since closed down and some of the digis are not available through Whimsy Stamps' website instead.

I have a thing for yellow and aqua together at the minute; I think it must be all that sand and sea I keep colouring! I do love this combo though, but I am very limited on patterned papers in these colours.

Recipe:

Stamps: Shelley from Wee Stamps, Cool Dude from Clearly Besotted

Papers: Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay & Eastern Elegance DSP (Retired) all from Stampin' Up, Make It Colour Blending Card from Make It Crafty
